Yeah, I can for sure attest that the CPU scores. I just lost 20 to 1 to the Yankess.

The smart counts are really fun and I think make each game different. The game before that, my pitchers were playing much better, this game, I got a lot of 3-0 counts to start with. Walked over 10 batters. Wasn't ready for pitching changes, and my guys got rocked.

Hooligan, can you describe how the smart count work? I tried it once, but it seemed my relievers where exhausted after two batters and every count was 3-0. Meanwhile, the CPU's starter was still getting 1-2 counts into the 9th. I went to random after that which is probably not as realistic, but a bit more fun. Perhaps I will give smart counts another shot?

I'm glad that you're having some different types of games than last year with the precision pitching. I also think being able to lower the pitch speed is a big reason for more offense. Last year it was just too fast with the somewhat unresponsive controls. Although work still needs to be done, the game in '05 feels fairly smooth and the buttons more responsive.

Still, you have to give credit to the team at Acclaim for continuing to put out a quality game with the xbox hardware limitations. Plus, I can't imagine the programming skills it must take to mimic pure baseball. I can't complain anyway--keep it up fellas. Looking forward to next year.

I started another thread about the smart count, so info should be in there. Basically it takes into consideration fatigue, pitcher talent, batters, etc. in creating a pitch count rather than randomly generating one. A bit more realistic, if you ask me.

One concern people have is you REALLY notice pitcher fatigue. One thing you have to do is realize that you can use the FULL fatigue bar. Most of the time we are conditioned to pull a pitcher at around half.

Still, I think pitch counts are a tad on the high side with the smart count, but I think it makes it really interesting and fun to play with.
