Their pitch counts are pretty high, even by real life standards. A decent pitcher might have thrown 100+ by the 5th inning, and they will have nothing left on their fatigue meter.

I mean, it's not way-way off. Look at Pedro last night - he had an inning where he threw 30 pitches. But I think this game built the fatigue model around the fact that video game pitchers don't have as high of pitch counts. So a real life pitcher that has thrown 50 pitches is still doing ok, in ASB a pitcher than has thrown 50 pitches is getting winded.

Heck, even Lyon said something when one of my pitchers had 50 pitches through 3 innings, saying how much it was.

generally, from what ive noticed, once they hit around 75 pitches theyre toast, or really close to it....im going to experiment more with the 1-1 counts and see where it gets me though

In think you guys are definetly right about the gen counts toasting pitchers early. That's why I bumped up every pitchers(including closers) stamina by a full grade. Much better. I've gone as far as to give every starting pitcher and A+,A and sometimes A- rating. I just have to see how it effects the simmed games(I don't want 30 pitchers in the league having 20 complete games!).

                  Re: After some experiments/games

Yeah I've been experimenting with this too, and I think I've found the setting that works best for me (w/ 3d cursor). Here's what I've found out with each option:

Smart counts: I agree, this makes the pitch count a little too high. I hate getting up to bat(or pitching) with a 3-2 count. It only gives me one chance to make a mistake and I hate striking out an opposing batter with one pitch. Plus, too many strike outs when I'm hitting.

1-0 count: I liked the pitch counts but still not enough walks.

2-0 count: I get a good number of walks (hitting and pitching) but the balls- to-strikes ratio is too lopsided.

2-1 count: I like this one the best. The pitch count can get a little high sometimes but not too bad, it's pretty realistic. As long as I can get a good 6-8 innings out of my starter, I'm happy. I have a good number of k's and BBs. Plus if I make a mistake, I still have one more chance.

So maybe if we use a 2-1 count and up your pitchers stamina a bit we could be good.
