    Fielding Frustrations

Ok, firstly, I don't use Fielder Cam because I just can't get used to it. I use classic cam mostly, and occasionaly try 2004 cam.

But here is my problem. I find sometimes the camera angle is so low to the horizon that I have a problem putting my fielder in the middle of the blue circle! I think he's in there, but sure enough, he just stands there while the ball drops to his feet!

It seems you have to be so exact in the damn thing sometimes, while others you're on one side of the circle and you still make the catch?!?

Also, i've had instances where my fielder is running after the ball on the ground, only to run circles around it because he isn't picking it up? It's like I need to run over the exact pixel? While other times the vacum effect is there.

Anyone have any suggestions or tips? This stuff drives me crazy and easily costs me a few runs and 4 or 5 hits a game!

well, you don't stand in the middle of the circle all the time. You have to take into consideration how high/hard the ball is hit. If it is a really high pop fly, standing in the circle will work. But if it is a line drive you have to stand more towards the front of the circle.

I realize that, but I find that even on ones where I have time to get under them, it's hard for me. Maybe I need new glasses or something.....

If the camera was tilted up a bit more, I swear my problem would go away! well, maybe.....

Just move in around the circle until your player stops moving and is controlled by the fielding mechanism thingie. I had toruble with this also, with feilder cam especially. I just had to move around the circle until it clicks, yaknow? Usually a surefire way if you're in the OF is to come in running straight towards home plate if you're infront of it, and sometimes if you're to the side. You'll know you've hit the sweet spot usually when the announcers say "he's under the ball" or something to that effect.

                      Re: Fielding Frustrations

I use 2004 fielding cam and I hate when you think your lined up but aren't and the ball drops right next to you and rolls to the wall.

Another thing I don't like is picking up a ball that stopped in the outfield. Normally you can vacum anything moving 5 feet from you into your glove (which doens't bother me) BUT for a ball that is stopped it seems like you have to line your exact glove pixel up with the ball pixel so while your running in circles around a dot the batter is heading to third.

I have two other gripes about fielding. One is balls to the gap in which your fielder cannot be seen on screen. Sometimes you can just get lost (almost as if that dang arrow is pointing at the wrong guy).

Secondly there is a bug that will sometimes move your guy forward for a second when you push UP on the stick. This makes you run away from hits and usually ends up turning a should be out into a double or triple.

These are not huge issues, maybe one or two occurs every other game, and I still very much enjoy the game (now that I have learned to cope with the illogical menus and bitten the bullet that the presentation is 3rd best out of the bunch.) but I would still like to see them fixed.

I hope for next year ASB does nothing new (in fact I hope they ditch FC) and just fine tune and polish what they have to perfection. It really is just a a loving spit shine away from being that good.

I agree..but for me those one or 2 times a game is a killer. Was playing online last night and twice..I am rounding 3rd base heading for home..it shows me the opponent with the ball in his glove in left field ready to throw...I should make this walking home...but no..next shot is the catcher has the ball and im out by a mile! Another play..my opponent stops on first because he claims he saw the 2nd baseman get to the ball on a slow grounder...I see the ball hit hard past the second baseman and roll to the wall! Lucky for me I guess...but not fair. I know it's lag but I have very little or no lag in other xbox games. I'm sure they will patch the online play with an update!!...I hope!!
