Re: Hitting with the 2D cursor

I Know what you guys mean about the 2d cursor. I played with it exclusively in 2004, but here I am tired of hitting the ball square and popping it up or dribbling it. This ain't NBA2k5. Anyway, I have went to zone batting, legend diffuculty, fast pitch and getting much better results as far as HR and K's

I'm playing last year's ASB with no cursor on the highest level. I'm getting pretty good hit variety. The pitch speeds are insanely fast compared to this years game. I'm swinging and missing a fair amount, unlike in ASB05. Did anyone know you can toggle the power swing on zone and timed hitting in ASB03? It's making a huge difference. I'm averaging around 5 foulballs a game. Pop up hits are less frequent. I'm spraying the ball to all fields. I'm lovin it.

I've hit some shots down the line with 2d cursor. One of the threads in here points out that the middle of the cursor is the sweet spot on the bat. To pull one down the line, you almost need to have the cursor on the outside of the ball.... when I can pull it off, it works pretty well.

As for hits, I find it pretty realistic.... I have gotten as few as 4, and as many as 12! Classic pitch speed BTW, as my reflexes suck!

I used the 2d batting cursor for awhile, but like others have said, it led to almost 15-20 lazy fly balls per game for me. I also would never hit any homeruns with the 2d cursor. I switched to the 3d cursor and I'm nailing the ball all over the field, including getting some homeruns.

I played with the 3D for a while, but it felt like I had too much control. If there is a runner on 1st, just tilt the cursor back and there is no need to worry about hitting into a double play. I also had a problem hitting balls down the line with the 3D, because it was so much easier to aim for the gaps.....

The best way to get hit variety for me in ASB05? 3-d cursor with the power swing toggled on, on fastest pitch speed. You get a good share of foulballs, chopped grounders and lined hits. Being a novice I use the hitting aid and strike zone box.

Too many pop ups on 2-d cursor even when you make solid contact. ASB needs to fix this hitting mode as well as zone.
