    Re: Returned to ASB

    I too have jumped around this years crop of baseball games...but I always come back to ASB. I would suggest that if you feel that some things in the game are bugging you too much...before you just give up, do what Jim and myself have done and edit your teams attributes slightly first, and then as each series comes up against a team...edit that teams attributes. It helps....immensely.

    Acclaim did a very nice job on improving ASB2005 from ASB2004 and if they just concentrate on "tightening" things up for 2006 they will have an absolute gem.

      Re: Returned to ASB

      Agreed.

      Wonder if they have seen our posts on player attributes?

      Knight, have you tried CURSOR hitting? Believe me, last years game I'd have no chance with the pitch speed, but with the SLOW pitch speed to learn on I must admit I really like it. I'm using 2D, not 3D.

      Matter of fact I saved and quit a great game against the METS, 7-7 tie (after I rallied). I'll finish it off tonight. My two previous games were 5-1 and 3-0 losses.

      I've even got the CLASSIC base running down to a fine science now. It was giving me some fits earlier on.

      All they need to do with this game (aside from the infamous Knight/Jim416 attribute fixes) is get rid of the overhand windup throws by the infielders and fix a few things in MO mode and that would satisfy me.

      Oh, the 25 man free agent bug too. I'd be happy with that.

            Re: Returned to ASB

            I've done the same thing. I rented all three from gamefly and after 20-30 games of each I chose MVP. Then after a week or so I really missed ASB so I went out and bought it. After a few games all the little bugs kept popping up vaccum grabs, outfielders catching eveything(although as I write this I'm thinking...doesn't this happen in all the other games as well), the fact that zone hitting was poorly implemented. So, I traded it in to get ESPN after a week of ESPN I just couldn't take the lack of any baseball atmosphere and at least on three occations during that week I would swing at a ball and miss but thinking that I should've hit it I check the replay to see the ball morph through my bat. Combine that with IMO some rather poor graphics(other than the stadiums) and choppy animations and I'm right back to ASB. It just feels like baseball! So I I bought it, for the second time.
            This time I going to give it time to properly learn cursor hitting, even though I don't like it that much. It should come tomorrow, I can't wait.

            As for next years game. I hav eone word for Acclaim SLIDERS............SLIDERS............SLIDERS!!!
            Just in case you missed it, SLIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                  Jim;
                  Yes I have tried ALL the batting choices. I am HORRIBLE at all of them That's why I mostly play manage only. But after dropping ESPN from my gameplay cycle(for now...it IS just too repetitive for me)..I started a fourth franchise in ASB...one where I actually do play all the games.

                  Truckie;
                  I could not agree more. A set of sliders so that the player could tweak the game to thier liking would be a GREAT addition. On the same note, and I'm sure Jim would agree with me here, is to change the letter attributes to a number system with a wider span. It does not have to be 1-100 but putting more of a change between the best players and the not so great players would be better with more of a spread.

                  Also, Truckie, I think I asked you this before....are you a fireman? I am, and I'm just guessing that from your name.

                        What Knight and I did was edit players attributes. For instance we decreased the RANGE and ARM STRENGTH of the outfielders.

                        1. The outfielders seemed to get to every fly ball.

                        Increased the RUNNING SPEED of players. There were far too many balls hit off the walls for singles. Runners weren't tagging up.

                        There are a few others.

                        <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

                        So you are saying you edited every player to make these edits?

                              I agree a number system for the player ratings would be much better than the current letter system.I still think that sliders would cure 70% of ASBs gameplay issues.
