I too try to stay in line with the real MLB season(but I do have test seasons going as well...as well as test franchises...which are in their tenth and thirteenth seasons)
In my regular franchise I play as the Mets and I am 18 and 20 I believe. I have Jason Phillips out for two months....Cliff Floyd battling the Flu(AGAIN!) My best average hitter is Jose Reyes(yeah, I know Mr. Invisible is yet to play this year...but he was ready and I need a good 2B) who is above .320....Piazza has the most HR's with 9(the league leader is Helton with 12 I believe) and RBI with 32(2nd in the league) Trachsel has the most wins with 5...(these are the leaders for MY team) I think Matt Morris leads the league with 7. Juan Pierre is on a tear, batting close to .400!
One thing I love is the importance of roster moves in ASB. Their are guys I would love to move up and down, but with waivers...there is a good chance of losing them. I tried to pass Ricky Guitierrez down and somebody picked him up. I brought up Delgado, who was worse at the plate(I needed a switch hitter) so I sent him down...and nobody wanted him. I now have Danny Garcia as my reserve infielder.
