    Re: 2D Hitting Help

i think ive firugred something out.. i think they designed.. this game on two levels one level is for.. NON cursor batters like myself... (rookie, vet, all star) the other one is for cursor batting users... (hof legend) the reason i say this is because... for most of my season up to this point i played on all star... well thoguth i would try hof.... well on hall of fame i was KILLING the ball like i would be on rookie... but on all star same settings i had fewers homers hit fewer hits per game... my question is... WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY DO SOMETHING SOOOO STUPID if this indeed is the case.. and there are TWO distinct diff settings for cursor and non cursor hitting???

for the hey of it.. i went ahead and tried this thing called cursor hitting... slow speed 2d blah blah ... anyway...lol... it just didnt do it for me.. i wasnt getting many hits.. i played to games and only got.. maybe 8 hits total for both games...

there is one advantange... just one... it FORCES you to be patient and not swing at bad pitches and increase your walks if you were to get any... other than that.. IT SUCKS!!!!!!!! just my .02 cents ill stick with timed and all star setting...

Your suggestion about going back to the hitting aid and paying more attention to the pitcher and the flight of the ball instead of the cursor is helping. Thanks. I've had a few games where I've had around 10 hits. So, I'm starting to make some headway.

One thing I'm noticing more is that I almost never pull the ball. Even my homeruns are all hit the other way or to dead center. The only time I ever pull the ball with authority is with lefthanded hitters, once in a great while. With all my righthanded power hitters(Sosa, Alou, Ramirez, Lee) I have yet to hit a homer to left with any of them since I started using 2D. I hit a ton of deep fly balls to right-center with these guys. I think I'd be hitting the ball with authority more with these guys(and everyone for that matter) if I could pull the ball or is that not gonna happen with 2D?

Is pulling the ball with authority something you can intentionally do with 2D hitting? If so, How? Thanks to you or anyone else for your help.

You may want to try classic (fast) pitch speeds. It slows down the pitches just enough to where you can jump on the pitches and turn on them a bit better. It's still a challenge to hit, but it gives you that slight chance to swing a bit earlier. I've found that changeup pitchers are harder to hit than fastball guys. It is still hard to pull fastballs, but you can really turn on curves and off speed pitches.

actually top dog.....I have the reflexes of molasses...I am already using the slowest pitch speed..so maybe I'm just not swinging soon enough....I was thinking it had to do with how I had the cursor positioned, but that makes sense...I'm not sure how I'll be able to swing sooner and still have time to move the cursor but I'll give it a try.

Heh. My best hitting game of the year came against Steve Sparks. I was pulling those 58 mph knucklers right down the line. First time that has happened all year.
