    Re: 2D Hitting Help

I have the same problem with 2D non -hitting..nothing but lazy fly balls and a weak grounder mixed in now and then. .. I get 4 or 5 hits a game. Always homeruns when I guess the location right or a single that trickles through the middle..That's it...Not even any variety in my outs...always the same..flyballs or groundballs to the middle third of the field. The next linedrive I see will be the first.

It's driving me nuts enough to have to give up on the game. I bought the game for the manage only mode, but the offense on that is broken. 3D, zone and timing hitting are all too easy.

I'm actually having good variety and b/c of the suggestions here, I am starting to hit the ball better. The last game against the Mariners I had 9 hits. 1 Hr, a 2B and the rest singles. I am now in the 11th inning (had to save it this morning, you know it's a "Honey do" weekend) against the D-Rays locked in a 5-5 tie. This game makes you work and its awesome when you get a hit. I quickly gave up on this game when it first came out, but I am glad I came back to it.

What level are you playing on? I bumped it up from All Star to Legend and even though the cursors are smaller, i seem to get "good wood" a lot more. I average about 8-9 hits a game with as few as 2 or 3 and as many as 16. Like I've said before, I have no trouble hitting with the "good" players, its the lower ones that give me trouble.

I'm around game 100 in my season and here are a few of my numbers:
Furcal .320 3 hr 16 rbi (was on the 60 day dl with a broken arm)
Giles .324 24 hr 50 rbi (15 day dl stint)
            C. Jones .320 31 hr 82 rbi
            A. Jones .332 28 hr 62 rbi
            Drew .265 24 hr 56 rbi
            ..and the bad...
            Estrada .170 3 hr 14 rbi
            DeRosa .165 5 hr 16 rbi

My hitters are very streaky. Before the all star break, I was above .350 with Chipper and I managed to pull Drew from about .190 up to the .270 range. As for the rest, it's either steady or in the case of DeRosa, it has been consistent suckage.

I also have trouble drawing walks. I am a patient hitter but pitchers don't seem to miss as much as they did in ASB04 where I drew about 5 walks a game. I've faced pitchers that have no stamina left and can get them to 3-1 or 3-2 counts but they always seem to come back and hit the strike zone at the end.

I am playing on HOF level. For some reason I chose to pick the highest level. It seems to play a good game and I just need to get better. It simulates how hard it is to get a hit and I like the pitch variety. I am only 12 games into my dynasty (Expansion) and Griffey has 2 Hr's to lead the way so I haven't seen the power you guys have. I just really have to be patient and wait for a good pitch. It's tough though after playing games where that isn't really the case.

My bad...I am playing on the highest setting which I thought was called HOF. I don't know why I started there, but my pride is keeping me there as I get my butt kicked daily in my expansion franchise. I am 4-12 thus far.
