Will there be an ASB 2006?

The article says that Acclaim "...has let all its employees go, and shut its doors for good..."

Is this true? Will the Baseball Game Wars be down to ESPN and MVP?
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a ttoal jmulbe and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Re: Will there be an ASB 2006?

"The 600-employee company (NASDAQ: aklm) that owned studios in Manchester, UK, Austin, Texas, and was headquartered in Glen Cove, NY, was unable to renew a loan with GMAC Commercial Finance, and could not secure an additional $65 million loan from another financier. Friday, the company sent employees home, but there was no official or public conclusion of its closure."

That whole paragraph says it all.

ASB is officially dead unless it gets bought up by some other publisher, which doesn't look good seeing as how Microsoft has officially ended its sports game development, thus killing Inside Pitch and High Heat. It looks like we've got MVP, ESPN, and MLB to fill our baseball needs from now on.

If you have XBox like I do, you only have MVP and ESPN to choose from.

"Glen Cove staff laid off on Friday, Texas staff locked out of their offices; games library in jeopardy."

According to numerous sources, including some former Acclaim staffers, Acclaim Entertainment's home office in Glen Cove, New York, has been closed and staff has been informed that their services are no longer needed. Acclaim staffers were notified of the closing on Friday. Sources said the company's Austin, Texas, location has also been shuttered.

Some staffers have indicated that severance packages have been tendered in exchange for signed nondisclosure agreements, while others state only that they've been told not to return to work. The company is demanding that staffers make appointments to pick up possessions still remaining on-site.

As for the future of Acclaim games that remain in the production pipeline, including 100 Bullets and Juiced, their status is unclear, although sources suggest that when and if the games make it to retail, the Acclaim name will not be attached.

Id be happy to play ASB 2005 for the next season, Im already in the 3rd season and loving the new stadiums through the league and the ones to come. This game will remain fresh and competitive with the added nuances such as this.
