Re: Will there be an ASB 2006?

    There may still be hope...

30 September 2004 by Stuart Dinsey

A new British games publisher is set to emerge from the ashes of Acclaim, with four titles already signed and the highly rated Juiced firmly in its sights.
MCV understands that Rod Cousens, former global boss of the collapsed US giant, and LA-based Europlay Capital Advisers LLC have acquired the studios in Cheltenham and Manchester.

Assets picked up include four games, notably the hot prospects Interview With A Made Man and Heist, plus certain back-catalogue and IP...

...A number of Acclaim’s US assets are also being targeted.

No it doesn't. This has no bearing on ASB, but it does on other Acclaim games. I know ASB was produced in the USA, but I'm not sure what state.

Not trying to be harsh to ASB fans, but the reality is that ASB has gone the way of HH. Most likely never to be seen again and definately won't be around next year.

It was produced in Austin, Texas I believe.

I just hope that some of the other developers pick up on the things that ASB did well, and incorporate it into their games. ASB had it share of flaws, and some of them had lingured for years, so I can understand why many people didn't like the game. But there were also some people like myself who did enjoy the game because it handled some things very well.

I agree. I didn't play ASB because of the flaws (although I did buy it and gave it a good try). However, there were a lot of things in the game that I thought were excellent.

My biggest problem was that zone hitting was broke and I don't like cursor based hitting at all. Anyhow, I'd be very happy if other companies utilized the Rule 5 draft, waivers etc.... That's sorely lacking in all the other games.

I recently traded in my game because I felt like the controls were very crappy and I owned MVP which is way better but ASB had some nice touches.

I wish some of the ASB team would head over to EA.

I like the audio in ASB where the announcers would ramble on about a topic and then the other would cut in the middle to call the action, then the ramble would continue right after.

I like Rule 5, arbitration, and waivers.

                            Future stadiums was also cool.

I never really like ASB on the current generation of consoles but back when ASB was on the N64 it was my favorite game. You lost your way Acclaim but I'm going to miss you anyways.
