OOTP6 was disappointing, but I think it's still a much better game than Mogul.

Why do you feel OOTP 6 was a disappointment?

I have an older version of Mogul from 2002 (when it was called Baseball Manager) that I got from the Dollar Tree. Doubt with OOTP's depth and breadth in capturing the nuances of baseball without all of the eye-popping graphics of the popular console games, one will ever find a copy of it at any dollar store.

I have seen a few posts on the disappointment of OOTP6, but I am not sure what they are talking about. I have been using OOTP since v3, and Marcus always seems to address many of the issues we gamers bring up in subsequent releases. I am in my 47th season of my Universal Baseball ***'n, and the palpable realism of my UBA's historical greats meshing with today's stars is as real as the Babe, Ty Cobb and Roger Clemens.

I'd strongly suggest Diamond Mind Baseball for most realistic on the field play.

But ONLY if all you want to do is replay past seasons(doesn't sound like what he is after considering the other games he plays). Plus DMB is $$$$$$$ and I've been in a DMB league for over 10 years and it still makes wierd AI decisions. It is a decent game but OOTP is a much better value.

No. you're wrong. It does NOT only play past seasons. There is a season projection disk that plays the current season with projected stats based on the weighted averages. And there is no way OOTP holds a candle to DMB on the field. It is a different game geared toward franchise players (which DMB does not). But when Jayson Stark, Rob Neyer, people at Baseball Prosepctus all play DMB and called it the most realistic sim around, there is a reason for this. It's a much better game on the field than OOTP. You get what you pay for.

                            Whatever.......bottom line:

If you want to replay seasons use DMB.

If you want "your own" baseball history use OOTP.

Neither is perfect and the above are the strength of each game.
