How in the world do you guys hit well using a cursor? That perplexes me. Personally, from a sim standpoint, don't batters swing across a zone? I know you can do that with a cursor as well, I'm just saying I'm not that skilled. I would like a baseball game where you can change the batter's position in the box. That seems like a must.

I presents more of a challenge and is more realistic to me. The cursor is basically my eye (or the batter's eye) and I follow the ball from the pitcher's hand until it crosses the plate. Plus in 2K you can hit HR's on balls that are decently outside the zone (where as in MVP you can't, only balls that are just barely outta the strike zone). It just feels so natural and real to me.
I love MVP this year and it's fun as hell, but all you have to do is hold up before the pitch comes, then move it to up/in or up/away depending on the pitch location, time it right and you're friggen Barry Bonds. Fun, but too easy and not very realistic. I'll be a cursor man til I quit gaming."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

That is what ruined MVP for me this year. It was way too easy to just sit on pitches and press the stick up and in to hit easy homers. I liked the pitching in MVP though.
I really hope that the cursor hitting in MLB 2K is improved and the game is more challenging.Comment

Re: player updates @ Arturs32Irbe1
I know many of us who LOVE baseball simmmed games don't have the time, patience or ability (for whatever reason) to do the updates themselves. Thank God I do however...lol
Like telephone directories, once it's published/put out there, its already 'old'..lol
So...if in fact, ESPN is going to come out with a World Series Edition/update next month...guess what? Before Christmas 2005, it'll be outdated.
What am I going to do? Continue to update by basic roster in MVP2005:
checking the transaction reports from various sources, Baseball America, Baseball America Prospect Handbook, Sporting News Scouting Notebook and the like...My method may be too much for some, but at least I'll be updated consistently...in real time.
peace!

Continue to update by basic roster in MVP2005:
I do the same with High Heat using the editor (control all teams so that rosters are current), however, I thought MVP you could only control ONE team and the CPU did the rest, calling up players, etc. The main reason I didn't like MVP is because you couldn't keep the rosters current. The CPU controlled teams looked nothing like the real teams three weeks into a season, so many callups, send downs, etc.Comment

Re: player updates @ Jim416
Jim, I originally thought so too...but a few months ago, someone replied to my inquiry about the same thing....and there IS a way to 'freeze' if you will, the rosters for ALL teams, so when May 1st rolls around, you're not playing the Anaheim Angels with half of their roster composed of AA & AAA players...lol
Once you have ALL of your rosters set, save them and then if you're starting a season (Owner Mode Options):
Default Rosters-NO
Fantasy Player Draft-NO
Use Unlockable Players-NO
Trade Deadline-OFF
(although when I played my Mets' season, I lifted the ban two days before...I noticed a FEW teams made some moves; although non-earth shaking)
CPU Initiated Trades-NO
Fair Trades-OFF
This will work in keeping ALL teams' rosters intact (of course, if there are injuries, there will be some roster shuffling).
peace!
