We also have to remember the history of the series...as it may serve as an indicator for what to expect in the future.

I posted here in August about meeting a VC/TT employee who explained to me that MLB 2k5 was actually built using the 2k3 game as a base. And he explained that such efforts did in fact warrant the "built from the ground" up label the game was given. So I don't really expect animations and swing follow-throughs and a great deal of other gameplay basics to change.

Here's just hoping that they did fix the bugs, (including) take out the strikezone outline, fix the BTP cam and Minute Maid Park bug, wild pitch bug, 3rd baseman not charging bunts bug, vacuum pitchers on the mound and update the rosters.

If they did that and added a free-roaming cursor I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I'm just gonna wait til all you other OS'ers waste your money on it first and gimme a review before I make my decision.

But as of now I'm prolly passing on it.

Anyone who played the game notice if the classic teams have the real names? Cause id love to run with the 86 mets if they are who they are supposed to be and not some made up name.

Either way I'm sure we'll have plenty of people here working on the rosters, so if they need to be named or edited (which I'm sure they will need some form of editing) we'll get the job done.

I remember this being a big deal when 2k5 first came out...I for one was very excited to play with the 89 A's...only to find out that not only did players not have the correct names, but many did not have the correct weight, height, color, batting stance, pitching delivery and all the other nuances that make classic teams worthwhile. If it was just a matter of editing names, we would have all been very happy. Don't know if this will change, but I don't remember a full classic team roster ever being done b/c of all that I've mentioned.

Re: I played MLB 2K5 WS EDITION

First thing tommorrow morning I am purchasing it as well, I have stuck with the series with its several incarnations on 5 different systems and I will continue to do so tommorrow.

However I at least hope they have a free roam cursor hitting system this time or I am going to lose my mind.

As for the classic teams, how bad would that look if they say they have classic teams (the game is named world series edition for the classic teams) and then we find out the 86' mest rightfielder is named "Right Fielder #18" instead of Strawberry or "Catcher #8" instead of Carter. That would be a collosal joke, not to mention playing the 89' series in HSBC instead of Candlestick. Or playing the Boston Red Sox-Cincinatti Reds October classic at the Great American Ball park instead of Riverfront.

If those 2 items can't be done than I can't truly think their game in March/April could be any better.

Unfortunately I don't think they did anything above, in adding a free roam cursor or having all the names on the classic teams, but we can hope.

well from the look of the website where they have Eckersley pitching to someone i would hope they would at least have the names be correct for the WS teams. Which is all i can hope for. I need a baseball fix and could never get the original game to work when i was playing with the Mets

Good to read a posting by someone not 'blinded' by (any) brand 'loyalty'...Some on this and other boards will downplay or act as though the bugs are a minor issue or not issue at all...which is most times followed by a variation on this refrain: "...well, as long as I can play the game.."

In the final analysis...ALL game developers have a pretty good temperature reading of it's game buying public...if folks constantly overlook or act as if bugs are no big deal, does anyone REALLY thinnk the developers are REALLY going to give a ssssssh?

Then how come year after year we see the same old bugs in games? Because people don't care about them? I think you can read any of the glitch threads from all three games this year and people are screamin' fits about some of the things. If there was brand "loyalty" the glitch/bug threads would be silent. They aren't. Look at ASB, for an example, and the hunched over fielders. They knew good and well about this and when a developer was asked if they had gotten rid of them he said, "mostly". Well, look at the last game. It's was still there when the game came out.

Gaming is individual preferences and what you can live with. They're all full of bugs, but can you live "with the lefty bug", "with the no bunt bug", "with the game freezes"? It depends on the gamer.
