Everybody has their own preference but I prefer Mlb's by Sony.

I prefer 2K's graphics. I mean, it is the only game available with triple-pass rendering, self-shadowing, and extreme contrasts. They even have some great looking wrinkles, etc.

HOWEVER, the fluidity the last few years have destroyed the look of the game. And, this has started since Kush has come here... but there's a "waxy" feel to the jerseys that I don't really like.

If they can get that changed, I really can't see how there's any other competition in stills.

          you aint getting both....
From the looks of it, we’re getting MLB 2K5 anyway but with supposedly new animations and a few new features (pressure sensitive throwing, etc). That’s fine by me, but they had better have fixed the basic problems first -- like the horrible lineup glitches and the super vacuum pitchers and the many ten-foot dribblers and the seven-foot high pop flys and the third baseman who doesn’t move and the pitcher-always-walks-the-8th-batter-with-two-out glitch and about a dozen other things I could mention. Otherwise, whatever they release in the spring will be a complete waste of time and money, regardless of how “exceptional” it looks on the Xbox 360.

Well, I'm not one that loves to but in ever, but I don't want people leaving the forums to ever get the wrong idea about something (that, or I need to get myself straightened out a lot). But, IMO, aside from animations, features, and modes (and then... bugs being fixed, of course)... what else do you improve on?

I mean, I'm looking at these MLB '06: The Show videos. And, while I'm very satisfied with what I'm seeing, I have had yet to see the slightest upgrade where you could consider the game being "completely different". Not to say this is a bad thing, either. The reason is because, well, games don't always change so drastically like it did from ESPN Major League Baseball to MLB 2K5. That change was because of the developer change.

But, aside from all of that... you know, it looks like we're getting a completely new pitching and hitting interface. MLB '06 doesn't have any of that. We haven't seen this game in action, so maybe, like... the cameras are different, the batting stances are different... the ambience, announcing, baserunning windows, stat overlays, replays, interface, etc... maybe it's all different, and we don't know that yet.

So far, we do know that there is momentum. I have been waiting for this in a baseball game for a LONG time! Fielding will be immerse, to a degree that we've never imagined. In 2004, Madden added Playmaker control and Owner Mode. That was it. No more. But, people continued to buy.

It looks like, as long as what Chien Yu is saying holds true, that this game will have a rather major overhaul in just one year's work. Plus, we still have the 360 to look out for.

Bugs? They will always be apparent, unfortunately. Hopefully, however, the ones that we have had issues with are finally fixed. But, it begs me to ask the question, once again, as to how many people could still stay so loyal to MVP 2004 with their gamekilling, impossible-to-fix bugs. At least 2K5's bugs, for the most part, were not gamekilling and had some cure.

In short, all I really have to say is that time will tell. You can't expect overhauls every time out, but you can pray for the broken elements to be addressed. Hopefully our wishes have been granted.

Hey Baa7 buddy. It was 71 here today. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Your nose frozen off yet, lol?

Well Blzer, one can only hope. I'm not a fan of "new" in the games when the games still continue to have bugs that should be addressed FIRST. I'll say it until I die in front of my monitor with my fingers wrapped around my controller.

"Gamekillers" are subjective I guess. I loved this game when it came out, but it got stale on me really quick and I didn't want it to, whereas, others played it to death. I can understand it all. I'm lovin' MVP PC right now. Finally got around to playing it, did so for my "winterball" baseball. I've never seen so much different stuff in a game. I like it.

If these games are released in the spring and we are back here again, like we do every spring, listing a looooooooooooooong list of bugs, then shame on the developers. It's about time they got some of this stuff worked out.

Not talking about any particular game, but I don't want to see a signature homerun trot if I can't do a double switch.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't start with new features until bugs are fixed first, but from what baa said, this is MLB 2K5 with new animations, features, etc. Something that would make it MLB 2K6 is fixed bugs. That's what I got out of it, but maybe I'm wrong.

In my opinion, this game has been in 3rd place for the past few years (6th the year ASB, Inside pitch, and High heat were out) and they really need to step it up. Especially when it comes to the player models.
When the PS3 comes out, all the sports games will look similar across both platforms. 360 and PS3. Right now developers are basically rolling out demos of what they can possibly do on the 360. Learning the hardware of next gen.

I don't know eveyone's answer is "wait till PS3." If you think Madden on the PS3 is going look so much better than it does on the 360, safe yourself the dissapointment. It's EA afterall.

If you don't think you won't see some stinker PS3 games visually at launch, you will.

Start judging graphics once the system has been out a full year.

                        Re: are these new screens??

Clearly nobody knows what platform the screenshots are for, but with whats been showing on 360/PS3 (movies and current titles), I think everyone has a right to expect to see a whole lot more than whats being shown. Which would lead most people to conclude these are not 'next-gen' shots.

I agree with the one poster about maybe being forced to pick up a PS3 to get a good baseball fix. No offense to 2k (we still dont know how their next gen bball is going to be)...but for those on the fence, it does look like the MLB Sony series is at least solid in many, many areas on PS2 and would only improve on PS3.

Im seriously hoping 2k blows us away, but I have low expectations for 2005/6. I think 2006/7 is the year when we see some really cool titles.

As many others here are pointing out, this game appears to be MLB 2K5, with a few new features. No doubt it’s simply a port of last year’s game, given they went to all the trouble of creating a visually-new game last year. So I imagine it’ll look and play much like MLB 2K5, thus my comments.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing – as long as they fixed all the broken stuff from last year, that is. For example, did they bother to fix and fine-tune the “confidence” system, or did they simply scrap it and replace it with an equally rushed and untested “morale” system? And did they address all the ridiculous ten-foot dribblers and seven-foot pop flies, or simply implement a whole new “stick swing” batting system that’ll prove equally moronic?

No, I’m not going ga-ga over any announced “new features”, given most of last year’s “old features” either didn’t work very well or were very poorly programmed (super fielders capable of diving 20 feet horizontally, and super-accurate pitchers who couldn’t throw a ball to save their lives, as two of many possible examples). 2K is developing a reputation of putting out rushed, glitchy games where only half of the features and modes and game play works. I hope MLB 2K6 is a great game, but I’m entirely skeptical at this point.

And now, it had BETTER be a good game…

I walked into Future Shop this morning (Canadian electronics chain… Canada… north of you… igloos…) and was asking about ordering an Xbox for March. “Want one now?” the guy asked. “We just got 25 in this morning, and there’s still 18 left.”

So now my new 360’s running and I’m staring at a blank TV screen, waiting for MLB 2K6 to drop.

Uh, is it out yet, by chance?

                              How about now?
