I did not mind MVP's use up pull/push, grounder/fly, but I did mind that aiming in the correct zone (or whatever) is not at all a part of the game. There's no contact involved in terms of cursor-like hitting. I hope that we can combine both, by using the left-thumbstick for contact, and the right-thumbstick for direction.

Now, the biggest thing, however, is for Kush to make sure that's implemented right also. Like I said before... chopping at a ball and getting under it should never result in a ground ball. Whatever it will result in, it will create a lot of backspin, and flair wherever it goes, no matter how high it goes. Most of the time, you should be foul-tipping the ball. Likewise, if we try to "pull" the ball (shoulders whip out quicker, barrel wheels before the knob), a late swing should not result in a pulled hit. It should be a weak fister to the opposite side.

There... another long rant of suggestions and hopes for realism to come out of this game. They have a lot of great suggestions for this year, but they really have to come out shining.

I hate to point out all of your posts, but are you still sort of beating on their 'lame' and 'insincere' efforts on MLB 2K5: WSE?

I mean, I know that it's the whole package... MLB 2K5 was of the most incomplete games on the market. However, it's not too wise to take a shot at a company solely for their reputation. This game shows promise. I haven't ever said that for an MLB 2K game before (dating back since WSB 2K3).

Of course, my statements have also been rather assanine. I'm still very much undecided on the MLB game that I want to play this year: MLB 2K6, MLB '06: The Show, or stick with MLB 2K5. I'm already buying MVP 06, but now I want an MLB game that I can keep playing with... and so far, every game has given me something to look onward to. I still have hope in whatever game comes out, and I will give all a fair chance and judgment.

          Exactly.

My biggest problem with the up for flyball and down for groundball method was that it didn't feel right. Say I wanted to hit a sac fly and the pitch was low and inside. What feels right is to press down and in since that's where the ball is pitched, but that results in a groundball. You'd have to press up and in on a low pitch......which doesn't seem right to me.

actually in that instance i'm thinking you might have to aim down and in with the left and swing up with your right stick, something you might be able to do but i'm not sure about myself

My shot was really at that middle finger comment. This is a ****ing discussion site. "And a middle finger to everyone who doesn't agree with my opinion and perspective..." How does that sound? Doesn't sound very appropriate, does it?

And the only unwise thing at this point would be to assume MLB 2K6 is going to be leaps and bounds better than last year. Meaning it might go from "Most broken video sports game ever" to "Man, this game is a frickin' glitch-fest!" Which would certainly be an improvement.

You know, ASB really hit heavily on features and visual "little things", which was really nice. Tom Green (asb_man; project manager or lead producer or freakin' president of Acclaim or something) has hopefully found some work with one of these baseball titles that's coming out this year or next year. Hopefully he and some of his crew will have some insight on those kinds of features, especially for next-gen gaming.

I'm hoping there's 40 man rosters in franchise mode and Rule 5 Drafts.

I like the new pitching system.

I think the swing stick isn't going to be good. ASB had their own version (a simple one) and it was fun for about 10 seconds.

It's too weird to use the analog stick to bat because it's so small.

                      Re: IGN Hands-On

I just simply don't like the "release for ground ball" part. Too irky. If you swing late at a pitch, and make contact while you're trying to thrust forward with your swing, but you only end up at the middle of the stick, it's going to be a ground ball!

That's not the point, though. I like MVP's much more. How the hell are we going to hit line drives?

Oh well... at least this takes away Power vs Contact swinging.

Isn't the left stick going to do the same thing this year?

I mean, last year and in years prior the left stick "aimed" or selected the area in which you were going to swing... You know where you thought the ball was pitched you would swing there...

So isn't that going to be the same, only now we will also use the right stick to swing?

So aim with left, swing with right?

I'm telling you right now that it damn better be this way. We also better be able to still use a cursor (I hope to God the old free-roam cursor is back for this game).

And like I said before... not all times thrusted forward should result in a fly ball, especially when swinging over the ball (should result in a dribbler or foul tip near the catcher's feet). I sure hope that foul balls are... well... I hope that there are more.

                            yeah, I hope so too...

Also about pitching becoming recognizable and being able to place pitches easier after a certain amount of time played, this should be combated by pitcher fatigue thus changing placement/movement throughout the game...

                            Just a thought

I'm sorry, but I feel this game is being underestimated. Hidden behind some awkward glitches and animations looks to be (by speculation only) pure gold. Realistic player movement with full fielder and baserunner collisions, a swing stick (I know... bad call, but oh well), V.I.P. along with very well drawn out player tendencies and uniqueness, online leagues without worries of SlamZone... um, I don't know what else to say, besides the fact that it's also hitting multi-platform, and it's the only MLB game that is, FF.

Of course, when I hear about features... my speculation is drawn to what they want us to draw it to. I'm almost positive that nothing will be exactly like I think it out to be, but the feature list does sound very impressive. I haven't seen a better one for a baseball game from 2K Sports yet, so that's definitely a good sign.

Every year we hear someone say "but, but, but.... this game shows real promise. This is the year!". And, nothing. Just re-hashing of glitchy gameplay and blocky animations. If the animations aren't blocky, then they're stuttery. Is 'stuttery' even a word? LOL! Anyway, what we DON'T get ANY year is ACCURATE, REALISTIC gameplay. And, THAT is the problem I have with baseball video games. It's beyond me why this simple fact is continually ignored.
