2K Sports, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive, announced today that Major League Baseball 2K6, the only MLB licensed game on every major console, will fully utilize and integrate the innovative scouting tools from Inside Edge. Major League Baseball 2K6, with the help of the most comprehensive scouting data of Inside Edge, will recreate the real-life tendencies and decisions of Major League pitchers and batters to deliver the most innovative and authentically entertaining MLB video game on the market.

“2K Sports has always been about offering the most realistic and exciting sports video game experience to our fans,” states Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. “Using Inside Edge™ technology truly brings every virtual athlete in Major League Baseball 2K6 to life as they exhibit the playing style, tendencies, and behaviors of the real life players in every game situation.”

Inside Edge™ powers the behaviors and the artificial intelligence of every virtual athlete in Major League Baseball 2K6. Through an in-depth scouting report compiled over the last 3 years, thousands of stat categories have been painstakingly recorded based on numerous factors. Inside Edge™ will utilize the comprehensive data and advanced decision-making to determine the type of pitch delivered and batting tendencies in any situation. Gamers will now feel the pressure in executing a clutch-winning hit against a fireball-throwing closer and the exhilaration of striking a CPU batter out during a scoring situation. Inside Edge™ delivers the human element and behaviors of real-life MLB players into Major League Baseball 2K6 and bringing the MLB experience to the next level.

“We are thrilled to be part of Major League Baseball 2K6, the best Major League Baseball video game this year,” states Randy Istre, founder of Inside Edge™. “Since 1984, Inside Edge™ has been bringing the best scouting data to Major League teams everywhere using advanced tracking techniques, new technologies, and innovative statistic methods. Now teamed with 2K Sports, the leading developer of the best and most innovative sports titles, baseball gamers will experience the most realistic MLB video game to date.”

Major League Baseball 2K6 is the exclusive and only officially licensed Major League Baseball video game to appear on every major gaming console including the Xbox 360 and Xbox video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft, the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system and the Nintendo GameCube. Major League Baseball 2K6 is slated to release in spring 2006.

I guess it's okay, too; that is, as long as they have authentic tendencies, and not BS ones that they made up.

Nevermind... it's also posted on this site.

And I must say that WOW! After reading it, it really sounds like that they may have actually listened to one of my suggestions! Well, sort of. I mean, it's definitely limited, but I think they sort of got some concept of my idea.

It's a long read, but if you want to read it, it's my first post on this page of the Wishlist thread:

Granted, there's still a long way to go. But, it's a start!

This will be a great feature, but of course their are guys on here and everyother board who know more about baseball than these guys and once the game is release they will be happy to say as much when the all to familiar phrase of "WTF" thats not what such and such would have done.

What they mean is that it's the only MLB game to be seen on every major console... not that it's the only MLB game, and that it will be on every major console.

I guess. It's more or less a marketing ploy. You can look at it either way, I suppose.

This feature could be good. My biggest concern is that it does not become redundant or it is used as a crutch every time in key situations. There needs to be failure built into this too.

the inside edge is a crazy piece of technology, i've played around with one and the number of diffrent ways to breakdown stats is crazy. this will hopefully improve the game greatly with better player tendencies and accurate hot/cold zones.

It's all semantics. They aren't lying when they say that they are the only game on all the consoles.

Hopefully the scouts that we hire (and the grade that they have) will better reflect this.

Something else, though... now that I recall (again) when somebody did not like the idea because they wanted control over where they were pitching it, and not some stats to, etc... I've sort of found a flaw in this Inside Edge feature, and it's that we shouldn't be able to have our scouting report onscreen in front of us. It should be viewed before the game, or during a mound visit. Finally, the mound visit could be given more use than just to get your bullpen pitcher more loose.

Their features have obvious potential... and they can definitely be enhanced upon if they just listen to the right people about this.
