So I edited their batting ratings for the purpose of increasing ground ball frequency, as well as to cut down on all the long fly balls, and have more bloop and medium-OF hits.

The fielding ratings I think everyone agreed were way over the top and required editing. I can give you a rundown on all of it at some point. The cool thing about the fielding edits is that after players’ ratings were edited, the CPU would sub defensive specialists into the game when it had a lead. It didn’t do that with the default ratings because all the players were rated too high to start with, so there was no need.

And it could well be 2K6 won’t need much if any editing. Hopefully that’s the case.

wow pretty impressive...did u use real life stats to generate your ratings? if so, were they 3 year weighted tallys or just last years?

i just did offense/pitcher ratings (made sure pitchers actually had real life pitches in their arsenal)....but my offensive numbers skewed too high
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

Jim probably needs to work with a roster pro like yourself. I'm a tweaking tinkerer (that sounds like I have a bladder problem, come to think of it). I spend more time testing than playing. When I set out to edit ratings, it's usually to fix the game and all its problems, rather than any attempt to come up with accurate rosters. I can tell you where to set the Dive rating to make them stop those ridiculous dives, but I don't really know which players should have a high or low Dive rating.

Yes, we need to pass this one around until we get it just right. Hopefully by mid April, if the creek don't rise.

check out MLB.com sometime...they have a ZR rating....guys with higher ZR can cover more ground ala make those dives.

So, to download/upload files there is an AR for the XBOX360? That's out now?

I looked at their stats on their in-game player card and took a general three year average. The other thing I did with a ton of players was look up their 3 year splits (ESPN site) and fix their VS L&R batting ratings. Honestly, maybe half the players in the game had their vs L&R ratings reversed from what they should have been, according to their actual stats.

Cool about the real pitches. Where do you get that info? I dropped the speed of pretty well every pitch by every pitcher in the game, so that nobody throws faster than 98-99 mph on the radar gun. It's a minor thing that doesn't affect game play, but it drives me nuts to see half the pitches hitting 101 mph. Also, I noticed one night while watching a real game that pitches like curveballs come in a lot slower than they do in the game. Those pitches I dropped by as much as 10 mph.

That's an important stat though -- or was last year. Anyone with a dive rating around 70 would start doing the super-fielder thing. Otherwise, they'd just go after the ball like, well, a real MLB player would. So I think I have 2-3 SS's in the game who dive like that. And it's actually acceptable now because it happens so rarely, and when it does happen, it's like "Dang, he robbed me!"

Don't think it's on the market yet. Someone posted a link to it on another thread; I'll see if I can dig it up.

yeah...i had to revamp every L/R rating..it was a mess and tedious.

for the pitchers i just picked up one of the baseball fantasy magazines ( this particular one broke down starters, middle relievers, closers). it rated their best to worst pitches. i too dropped speeds way down. no way does randy johnson hit 101 6/7 times a game

If the creek don't rise? Where in the name of blazes do you live? (Not to be confused with "Blzer" -- I already know he lives at home with the parents from hell.) Just kidding Blzer -- sort of. I'm aware it seems all parents are from hell... until you hit your mid/late twenties and realize it's you who's the problem.

Jim lives in paradise and likes to flaunt it because he knows it's snowing where I live. The good thing though is I never have to worry about the creek rising because it never gets a chance to thaw out.
