MLB 2K6 ON 360 is not an HD Game.......

For all my HDTV owners, MLB 2K6 on the 360 is not an HD game... This game was ported over from the xbox version which is in 480p. So I decided to change the settings within my 360 to 480p to see how this game looks. Mind you I have done this with NBA 2K6 & it looks like $#!T.

We'll I couldn't believe my eyes... This game is a 480p game & it actually looks real-pretty in 480p. May I even dare to say that it looks way better than it does in 720p/1080i. It even plays alot smoother.. How this could of happen is beyond me.

I would strongly suggest all HDTV owners to change theri settings to 480p(leave it WIDESCREEN in the 360 dashboard) & tell me if I'm crazy or what...

I also would suggest that owners having freezing problems, with there games give this a shot & see what happens...

I don't know if you're crazy or what's going on, but the game looks 10 times better in HD, there is no comparison. I don't know what kind of TV you have or how it's set up, but something is wrong.

If the game was an HD game the players would be stretched & there would be jaggies every where. This is not the case. If you don't believe me give it a shot instead of saying in looks 10 times better in HD. I own an HDTV click my SIG if you want to see my TV.

Trust me when I tell you this game is not an HD game.

I will check this out when I get the chance. I will say for a 360 game the graphics are subpar. Jaggies are not a prt of next generation. Kush must have forgotten that

back of the box says 720p, right beside where it shows Ichiro in HD so it must be true

Im playing on 43 pioneer plasma. 480p looks washed out compared to 720 native resolution. Way better in 720. just loaded up Texas vs tampa in both resolutions. Still jaggies around the end of the grass textures though. and some framerate issues.

I did it and it sure looks better in 1080i...I have an HD widescreen TV and the black bars were still on the sides, so if it was widescreen in 480p, wouldn't those black bars be gone?

If you look @ the back of the box it actually says 480p,720p & 1080i. I'm telling you this game is in 480p. Here's a image in 480p

If somebody can an image like this in either 720p or 1080i please post a picture

Well, you are right to a certain extent... there is no real perceptable difference between the game in 480p or 1080i... the game looks virtually identical in either mode.

However, switching to 480 does not really help the framerate issue with this game at all. The framerate still drops dramatically as the throw arrives at first base. There are still other chunky frame rate problems at various times.

I will say however, that the lag between pressing the "A" button and the batter swinging in Classic Control mode seems to have disappeared, and it's much easier to check your swing.

OK here are 2 pictures from NBA 2K6 on the 360:

                      This-1 is in 480p

Now this 1 is in 720p

There's a big difference. Reason because NBA 2K6 was made in HD while MLB 2K6 was made in 480p. If the player models don't get ya, look @ the crowds. You really see the difference there. I'm sorry guys but I've owned HDTV's for almost 6 years & the difference between 480p & 720p/1080i is like Night & Day. This game was develop in 480p native & your 360 is upscaling that image to 720p/1080i. I really hope they get this right next year.

It's not a backbreaker IMO. but it does show that this game was a DIRECT-PORT with improved stadium models

Does this actually help framerate because it's just unplayable to me with this current framerate. It seem like the pitcher winds up in slow motion and throws it speeds up for a minute then drop when the ball is hit and speeds up in the field and when you throw near a base it goes down again.

I found it to improve framerate. The game seems to play smoother, but you still get some framerate stuff.

Every 2K sports game was a port to the 360..In that case all of these next gen titles would have a native res of 480p, & is just upscalled to 720/1080i..

Tried it and I don't know what you are looking at but, the game looks a lot cleaner and sharper in 720p on my HDTV. You can tell with the letters and numbers on the screen, much sharper in 720p. Plus, I could see more detail in the grass and dirt in 720p vs. 480p. Too my eyes, I see a big difference.

The way I understand it is that no game has a native res off the disc but, it is rendered in whatever res you set your 360 too (480p/720p or 1080i). The same way it is with PC games. Don't know for sure so maybe I'm wrong but, I swear I've read that some where.
