Programming is the culprit for rocket arms

we all know the CPU rocket arms are a problem. I went so far as to take another team ( Twins ) and manually adjust all their fielders arm attributes.

Basically I took the Cubs ( my team) and the Twins (CPU ) and used 70 as the MAX arm strength and adjusted down from their accordingly. 70 meaning you have a cannon in real life, 60 as an avg arm and 55 as a weak arm.

For my team it worked GREAT arms felt very realistic and cut off men were a neccesity. But oddly enough it didnt really do much for CPU team. It did make a difference. The arms were weaker it seemed and they did use the cutoff man on occasion , but they still had laser cannons for arms. Torii Hunter easily threw the ball from the center field wall to home plate with no cut off man and unrealistic laser beam throws still happened by the CPU all the time.

Rondell White who I rated down to 55 threw a frozen rope from deep left to home plate and gunned me down on a play I should have easily scored on . Even with a 55 rated arm. lol

Basically what this proves is that its programmed that way and player attributes dont really effect the CPU arms for some reason. Which svcks because I really wouldnt have minded going through an adjusting all fielders arm strength if it would fix the problem.

why don't you up runner speed?

also, did you do the rookie+sliders fix?

yeah, you need to start from Rookie or Pro, that might help you some more as far as the CPU arms.

I'm going to try another idea that someone mentioned... taking down their position attributes from the 100 everyone is at for their position to something like 80, and so on.

I couldn't even being to explain why this might work, but it's worth a shot.

And in response to the original post, I remember reading somewhere someone trying that same thing with lowering the actual players arm strength, and that all it did was to cause their throws to still reach home, just with a lot more bounces, and that cutoffs were still non-existant. Did you get that also?

For myself, I knocked down everyone's thorwing power by 25, upped the runner speed (50), and used the rookie sliders fix, as well as putting the CPU throw aggression at zero. By no means does this make it perfect but say you hit a ball between 3rd & short.....the SS is no longer going deep in the hole, turning and gunning be out by four steps. I can beat out double plays on occasion with a quick runner, and I have scored from second on a hit, granted the hit is into the gap but I couldnt do that before.

I see the CPU hit the cutoff man. It's not all the time but it happens.

            1. Turn Fielding Speed Boost to "OFF
            2. Turn down Fielding Agression slider to "40"
            3. Set fielding speed burst slider to "0"
            4. Set fielding speed burst power to "0"

One of the slider descriptions above mentions something about arms. Something I didn't notice at first. Cant remember which one it was. But just try the steps above and see if that helps.

Also set Fielding speed to "20" and baserunning speed to "90" for human and cpu

up the runner speed = that is just the slider you adjust

The Rookie/Slider fix he mentioned is that you start at Rookie Level and adjust your sliders from there, instead of starting from All star or Legend. I started from Pro.

Yeah, I meant the 'Rookie + Slider' fix.

I thought that is what it meant but perhaps there was more to it.
I started on Pro , just as you did. The only thing I have changed so far
is both teams fielder speed, lowered it to 0. I haven't really noticed the rocket arm thing (yet) but maybe that is because I'm on Pro.

                  by the way, Thanks.

How is fielder speed working at Zero ??? I was wondering what would happen if I lowered mine.
