Some idiot at that worked at Gamestop today acted like I was crazy when I mentioned all the bugs in this game, and the rocket cannon arms in the outfield. He said, I haven't had any problems with it. I just walked away. I don't need to waste my breath on someone who must not know anything about real baseball. On a side note. I have both the xbox 360 and Xbox versions, and although the xbox 360 version looks better, you can actually score from second on a hit, and the computer runs better on the bases as well. So I traded in my 360 version today, and now am playing the xbox version. Using JISTICs sliders (only work good for regular XBOX), I am having a blast. The outfield arms are still a little strong, but they use the cut off man, and are inaccurate if throwing from too far away. Not perfect, but waaay better than the 360 cannon arms. Also, strangely enough, the players faces are better on the xbox version. Todd Walker for instance looks more like him than on the 360 version. Weird.

Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
Okay, doing a roster update. I've gotten rid of all the crouched stances, jedi bats, updated skin colors, put ANTICIPATION where there was none, put relief pitchers pitching OUT OF THE STRETCH, etc.
I did an experiment. I zeroed out ARM STRENGTH and ARM ACCURACY and then played a game. As I haven't played the game before I was on defense for both teams. I noticed with these attributes zeroed out that if I tapped a button there was sort of a lollipop throw into the infield (that's ok). If I held the button down the throw was with more force. I DID see throws off line abd I did see throws take several hops all the way to home/and off line. (These were all with USER controlled throws).
Now, question. I'm going to go through the entire roster and I have up to 40-50 players on each teams roster so that's a lot of editing. With what I've seen should I just do all outfielders zero/zero with the exception of the best guys in the league? I really didn't see any discernible difference with all zeroed out with the exception there were off line throws.
Any help would be appreciated as I'm gonna be here at the house tomorrow by myself and can work on getting this done.Comment

Jim, if the user throws from the outfield rolled home, how were the cpu throws from the outfield. I'm asuming still no relay or cuttoff throws.Originally posted by jim416Okay, doing a roster update. Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
I didn't let the cpu play defense, I switched sides, only because I can't hit yet, lots of slow rollers and such. Today I'll crank up my hitting and see how the CPU does with the throws. I can honestly say when I zeroed out both attriibutes it didn't have THAT big an impact on the throw speeds, just off line. Being as I hadn't played the game enough I don't know what I was to compare it to, but will give you a better feel for it today.
I noticed that the other fielders just aren't in the game when I throw a ball. They all seem to be just standing up stiff and only react when the ball gets to them and then go into the catching animation.
I'm just looking for a better way to tweak these rosters I'm finishing up.Comment

Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
Okay, just played a game with Phil vs. Pitt. Zeroed out the ARM STRENGTH and ARM ACCURACY for both outfields.
Had a runner on first and hit a liner to right. First off I noticed Abreu never reacted at all for a couple seconds, then he moved for the ball. The ball went to the wall and I sent my runner to third. Abreu threw it all the way to third, three hops, but off line.
Hit a medium fly ball to right, runner on third. I tagged up my runner. Abreu threw a three hop ball to the plate, up a few feet, but the runner was out when the catcher came back and made the tag. (in a real game no way I should have tagged up, but I wanted to test the throw).
Runner on first I hit a ball to Abreu, I sent my runner to third. Abreu hit the cut off man who threw to third for the out. I think he hit the cut off man because I surprised the AI by sending my runner.
Ball hit to Abreu in right. My runner sent to third and he air mailed one over the thirdbasemans head.
So there is an effect, don't know if zeroing out is the answer for the roster, but definitely way low.
Question. Is there anyway to fix the lag time between pressing the swing button and the batter swinging. I have to swing early every time?Comment

I am wondering how i get that file onto my 360....do i put it on a flash usb drive? im lost...and ticked off at the rocket arms..Originally posted by IceReaver75I'm not sure if this should go here or not but since it has to do with what this topic is about I figured I would put it here. Here is a max drive save for the PS2 with all the outfielders arms and acc. changed according to DanSF49's chart for changes. I figured I'd post it for people who want to try it out but don't have the time to change everything themselves. Its based from the 4-18 roster update download. Hopefully it will help somebody out.Comment

I believe he stated the file he had was a PS2 file, not 360.Originally posted by DaoudSI am wondering how i get that file onto my 360....do i put it on a flash usb drive? im lost...and ticked off at the rocket arms..
You need the Action Replay device for 360 to transfer any 360 file from a PC to the 360. Here's a link:

Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
jim i think lowering arm attributes to 0 is the easiest and best way to go, i don't believe for all the trouble of giving some a 10 and others a 12 that a person will really see any difference anyways, as far as i'm concerned 0 is still to damn high, i'm looking at also lowering outfielders anticipation and range to 1/2 or 1/3 of what is as well, that will cause them to take longer to get to balls and give me more time to take the extra base
with these attributes lowered they are still able to get to balls they should catch, haven't really played to much to see exactly where these should be set at, to bad about the strong arms and lack of cutoff men cause other than that i actually quite like the game.

Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
As I've gotten no feedback I'm going to do just that, ZERO for all. Hopefully this roster will be done tomorrow some time.
Highlights.....
Taken from Commissioners roster update (he'll get the credit and it will still bare his name).
No jedi bats
no crouch stances
relief pitchers pitch out of stretch.
players with zero anticipation got some (and there were many)
players added to all rosters
correct skin colors
arm strength/accuracy zeroed out
starting pitcher staminas upped
Anything else requested?Comment

Still looking forward to the rosters. As I mentioned in the other thread the speed ratings are really off. Any adjustments in that department would be greatly appreciated.Originally posted by jim416As I've gotten no feedback I'm going to do just that, ZERO for all. Right now I'm going to sim a season and see what the CPU does to those players that had their arm/accuracy ratings zeroed out as it does bring down their overall rating.Comment

Re: Project to decrease OF rocket arms.......
I have been thinking on this project somewhat lately. IMO changing only the outfielders is not the way to go. There will at some point be players that play the infield, and also have a second position at infield. If they were moved from outfield to infield, there throws to 1st would prob be too slow. And in the other event, throws from outfield would be rockets. I think that if this REALLY needs to be done, it should be done for all players.
Also...does anyone have any feedback as to whether or not the zeroing out of Arm Strength and Accuracy works well. Or if the other scheme worked better...with ratings tiered from 1-10, and up to 40 for accuracy. I think that posting was on pg 2 or 3.Comment
