MLB 2K7 is really a REFINED 2k6. Is that OK with you?

Don't mistake this focus on refinement for a complete lack of innovation, however, as the game will include some important tweaks that look to improve the gameplay straightaway.
Jim posted this Gamespot quote in another thread & it got me to thinking & personally I believe we are getting MLB 2K6 with a FULLY TWEAKED COATING. More responsive Player Animations(Throwing & Fielding). Signature Player Animations. Refined Gameplay Engine. Fully Re-Done Player & Stadium Models.

I really believe 2K7 is what we should have gotten last year, but DEVELOPMENT TIME wouldn't allow for it, hence we ended-up with the debacle we had last year. Many people on here said including myself "KUSH has a good starting point with 2k6, but really need to Address the GAMEPLAY ISSUE" We'll from the DE-BUG Version we've seen it surely looks like a lot of those problems were address in some form or fashion.

You can tell that they started working early to fix-up & hopefully enhance this title. I personally have NO Problem with this approach. How bout you guys.....

I have no problem with it at all.

If you read further on in the preview they adjusted the fielding a lot where you can make subtle steps under a ball to catch without shooting your guy across the field. As well as other improvements to base running and hitting.

Better graphics/models, huge emphasis on realism and accessories, and a night and day better animation system, sounds to me they have a solid game coming.

If they just focused on the behind the scenes gameplay mechanics, instead of new features that's fine by me. That's what MVP did between 2004 and 2005.

But I think it needs more than just being refined. I don't think either of the last 2 games were even close.

I'm feeling this title, so far. Just hoping against any major bug. But, in all fairness, anyone can see the obvious improvements. Maybe the title isn't good enough to erase the MVP fans disapointment, but it is looking a lot more quality. Heck the player models are better than NBA 2k7, which is my holy grail of graphics for a sports game so far. I just watched the Gamespot vids in HD and you really can see the difference right away. Last year only parts of the game were Hi-Res, now everything is. The field, the grass, the dirt, the stadium. If they don't add any bells and whistles, I'm sold. Let me add, as long as the game plays well and doesn't crash. And Left Handers can hit home runs.
        Note to Tiburon Marketing:

A great product sells itself, no "back of the box" features required! (See Fifa...)

Baseball cannot change much year to year...with that said...it's the gameplay that has to be fun..graphics will last a week if the gameplay is not fun. That's what makes "The show" what it is...after last year and being i have both systems now.....It's the Show first and a rental for this one to try.....

It was terrible seeing those player models contrasted to the stadiums last year. They might as well have put in 2D sprites!

I hope IGN starts posting some longer gameplay vids like they usually do for sports games.

Yep that is all I want! It said it was a time issue. But I saw some nice animation in last year game, so I was encourage that they could fix it next year.

Well, getting it up and running like it should have been is great. However, for a roster freak like me, only being able to control four teams is a loser. I believe that's the way it was last year and they probably won't change it as sounds like they have been tweaking what was wrong with the game.

It's exactly what I wanted. Nothing new...make sure the current stuff works. I am optimistic...I think.

They did say they will have a much deeper franchise mode, so I hope they did make it so all teams can be controlled.

I just wish rosters patches could be applied to franchise games. There has to be some way to program it where they add the trades, etc mid-franchise.

i'm ok with it as long as all of the game breaking ai bugs are fixed of which i'm sure 2k was aware of along with all of us.

I wouldn't say I have a problem with it but this approacj=h IMO will never give us the best possible game that Brinkman is capable of producing...The approach they are taking now is what I like to refer to as putting Cologne on a turd...You can hide the smell for a while but soooner or later the turd rears its ugly head.

2K out of necessity has to stay with the engine and the core gameplay because there is just not time to re-build the game...Whoever was in charge of production before Brinkman really effed the game up..Now Brinkman is left with a turd and some cologne..He's now stuck trying to correct and refine a game that wasn't his baby...I'll bet if he had it his way they would build the game from the ground up.

There is no way to totally rid the game of the horrid 2k5, 2k6 sti=uff when thats the core engine..That stuff us gonna be there not matter how many changes they make...Now they may be able to sprinkle some cologne on the game and even get it to a respectable level but at somepoint the old engine has got to go out the window and they will need to let Brinkman and the new team build a game from the ground up.

What game has EVER been bug free?...My point is we need to stop thinking that the perfect game will ever be made that doesn't have a glitch...In today's age of online gaming I'm not so concerened about bugs because they will be there...The thing I look for is a company who can correct and fix them with ongoing support. Once the game is shipped the support should not stop after we plunk down our $60 bones...If a major bug is found or discovered lets get a patch or a support team to correct the matter.
