Madden has NOTHING to do with the review. NOTHING. Keep it on the 2K review. Remember, just as many have issues with OS reviews, it's one person's opinion, and their scoring system. I don't understand the need to get worked up over them giving the game a 7.9.

Do you like the game? If so, then that's all that really matters right?

I think it does. I generally agree with you, but my thing is - score the games fairly. They seem unwilling to use the same criteria to judge the games. Outside of some people having a problem with the lack of camera options, there isn't anyone screaming that MLB2K7 is lacking features or lacking at least a few innovations. Whether you think it's good or not, no one's saying "this game's incomplete". Madden next gen is widely criticized for what it lacks compared to it's current gen counterpart - that's not even touching what's expected of it on the next gen consoles. It's still severely lacking in areas of Presentation and customization options. And that's without mentioning it's gameplay issues. You can't even do something as basic - AS BASIC - as saving a replay, or letting the CPU play itself. Yet it deserves an 8.5. I don't think NBA Live somehow got worse than it was last year - it's just that 2K7 was that much better. Way better; best/most complete pro basketball game ever. Yet it only gets an 8.3.

It's true that what most matters is the individual's enjoyment of the game. And if this were one review out of 20 others that was an aberration, then there wouldn't be much need to complain - you write it off as one person's opinion. But IGN does this crap consistently to 2K/VC. It's about perception - people are going to look at that end score, and it's going to affect people's perceptions.
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

          XBL gamertag: d0meBreaker22 (that's a zero)

congrats Steelers, city of Pittsburgh, and Steeler Nation - SIX TIME WORLD CHAMPS

I tell you what, I gave up on IGN reviews sooooo long ago when they gave WWE Raw a 9.1 for the orignial Xbox. If that's a 9.1, then MLB2K7 is about a 15.6....

Re: IGN Review up, game gets a 7.9

Guys, let me just say that this "IGN" that you're speaking of is just one person with one opinion and one score. There could have been a completely different identity typing up that review, and you could have seen an 8.9. Then we would be saying how "IGN" got it right.

It's not like all x amount of guys working at IGN collaborate on the final score of the review together; there is only one author (though I think there's an approval step along the way). Don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

People that are thinking it's compared to Madden: Is it from the same author? If not, then they are two completely independent cases. If so, then I guess you can dig deeper into that author's history of reviews and judge for yourself.

Re: IGN Review up, game gets a 7.9

I love the show, and will be getting that on ps3 when it comes out. As much as I love the show, I have to applaud the effort of 2k sports on this game (ps3). sure it stutters a bit, and the framerate drops sometimes...but no way should this game get less than an 8 and I'm talking play out of the box (only cosmetic setting changes)...I can't wait till the sliders folks come up with a good set. I'm not a sliders pro, but I wish someone could come up with a great set of sliders and send the file to all these non-baseball playing reviewers and have them play and review again. I would hate for people to pass on playing such a promising game because of low review scores.

My point is that they've done this consistently to VC games, and I stated my reasoning behind it. I agree w/you also - had they scored it an 8.9, there'd be a different argument (I'm sure you'd see some saying they shouldn't have scored it that high). But they didn't, and they never do. And they've done this type of thing on a far too consistent basis to write it off as one person's opinion. Again, I can do that when it's one or two reviews out of 20. But this is beyond ridiculous. They're not judging the sports games on the same merits - period. I remember when they were flat-out clowned for their NBA Live review (I think it was PS2 2006) when they said all this stuff about the game being over the top and arcadey, the sliding, but... it deserves a 9.1 or whatever they gave it. People on the boards clowned them so much they went back and edited out parts of the review. Without stating they did, of course.

There's no telling how many people will write the game off because of the end score of 7.9. Is it all that different than 8.3? No, but the perception is that there's a significant difference - the same reason a car will retail for $17,998 instead of $18,000. It's about the not too subtle perception they're pushing.

I have always contested that IGN is only good at rating RPG's and some action games. I'm not sure they have more than one guy on staff that knows anything about sports, and I even question his comments a lot of the time.

I think the biggest thing is that we all continue to voice our opinions on here. We can't reach the masses like IGN or 1up can, but at least we trust each other and know our sports!

You can't be serious. You can't compare this game and the team working on it with the one that worked on 2k5. That was a transitional year, and it shows.

Next year will be about refining the base they have implemented this year.

Oh yeah, what is that" THE BIGS" thing that they are advertising on the back of the manual anyway?

I am loving this game! Hell, my friend who isn't into baseball too much got it and is hooked as well.

I hated last years baseball game. Thought it was one of the worst I ever played. It made me run out and buy a Slim PS2 and The Show 06 because it stunk so bad for the 360. I was hesitant about this years, and rightfully so.

But man they renewed my faith. It is 100% better than last years game. Night and Day. The animations rock, the graphics and attention to detail are unrivaled of any sports game besides NBA2K7, and the gameplay feels a ton better since they fixed the animations and jerky movement. I am a firm believer now that this game is on the right track to stellar greatness. And this has definitely got me to forget about MVP05 and The Show (which I thought was better than MVP).

I cant put this game down. And every game I played was some good baseball feel. I was down 6-2 in the bottom of the 7th to the Devil Rays at Fenway after the first 4 innings I was no hit by Kazmir. Youkilis hit a single, Ortiz then hit a double (I held Youk at third), they walked Manny intentionally, and JD Drew hit a Grand Salami wrapping it around Pesky's Pole to tie the game up. After that Lowell hit a HR off the new pitcher to make it back to back to take the 7-6 lead. Then it was a nail biter bases loaded situation in the 8th which had Delcarmen shaking but I miraculously got out of the inning with a double play from Lugo to Cora to Youkilis and won the game on a Timlin save in the 9th.

The fielding cam was tough at first, but now I love it and keeps you on your toes like you would have to in real life.

And IGN and their review can shove it. Their graphics score (8.0??? easily a 9.0) and lame explanation shows they are out of touch as it gets. Especially when you look at the player reviews of a ton of people versus the IGN review. The majority of the same people that hated last years, are loving this years.

                                Good stuff here!

After spending more time with the game, and seeing all the details. This is definitely an 8.5 in my book(9.0 if they had more camera options for others, better commentary even thought it isn't too bad, and better crowd noise after home team HRs, etc). Hands down.
