I don't believe that there is an auto-fielding option. What are your problems with fielding?

I had some trouble in my first game or two, but things have improved after a few more. I've noticed that the controls are very sensitive; watch how far you push the analog stick in the direction you want to move. Your players move much smoother if you don't push it all the way. Other than that, try turning the "keep fielder in view" option off. This seems to have marginally helped others who have had complaints about the camera.

There is no auto fielding option, as astonishing as that is. I like this game a lot, but the lack of that option is going to bug me all year long. I don't care how good i get at fielding, I don't like to do it. I prefer to pitch, hit, baserun and make the throws. I don't want to jam on a turbo button with a crap fielding angle to maybe make a routine play.

I actually love having control of my fielders. I turn turbo off, and have had minimal problems. I can get to groundballs that should be gotten to, and can catch most fly balls within range. The only problems I'm having is deep flyballs off the bat, I cannot find the fielding circle for an instance, and that kind of stinks.

I haven't had a single fielding issue, don't even feel it's bad at all. I'm yet to miss a ball or mess up because of it. I over-ran a ball in the outfield, but guess what, I've seen that happen in real life before.

I feel you on that. Now that I'm more comfortable with the game, I enjoy the fact that I can make a mistake in the field every now and then. Especially with the Bucs, as a team with 14 consecutive losing season tends to do that every once in a while.

Do players make errors? I know in MVP some players would drop dive attempts or line drives they could't handle. There were also bad hops they couldn't handle. How often does this happen?

Yeah, this is still the big thing keeping me from buying the game. Every baseball game I remember playing over the years has had this option (and I'm talking back to Earl Weaver Baseball from many years ago).

I'm sure with practice I could get better, but I don't want to. I don't enjoy doing it one bit, and I know that if I get the game I will make fielding mistakes that will end up costing me games... and also controllers as I smash them in frustration.

There is a slider for fielding errors, I believe one for infield and one for outfield. In the two franchise games I played last night I saw two. The CPU SS couldn't not handle a sharp grounder, it bounced off his glove, and it was ruled an error. My SS Juan Uribe had a throwing error to first that pulled Konerko off the bag.

Yes, I've had two cool errors in my 2 games.

Lew Ford mishandled fielding a line drive that dropped in front of him. Hunter had to chase down the ball that popped out of Ford's glove.

Wright muffed a slow hopper to 3B in another game.

FWIW, I haven't had any issues with the fielding camera but I need to play more games to get a feel for it.

I agree!, they should have this feature in this version by now. If I remember, as far as Sega World Series Basball for the XBOX, they never did have Auto Fielding. I could be wrong, someone correct me if I am.

They must be using some parts of the same game engin from 2000?. It's possible?..no?
