If pitching is too easy then up the difficulty.
Padres, Chargers, Clippers, Ducks, Trojans, ManU, MK Dons, England

      Ah! Now there's a solution!

Except on the highest difficulty - AND after editing pitchers' control ratings down to 0 - payoff pitching is still too easy and too accurate.

ok back after a game letting the catcher call everything, pitching from pitchers view, sf (me) against washington, zito vs patterson, now first off i tried to aim my ball curser in the middle of his mitt but i'm a bit shaky at times and of course i don't hit the accuracey perfectly everytime either although using payoff pitching you can still be off a bit and it doesn't seem to matter that much, i also didn't use breakpoint as i just wanted to see how this would work by aiming just at his mitt, ok enough of that, zito lasted 5 2/3 innings before his stamina was at 0 and i had to take him cause he couldn't do anything anymore, 95 pitches, 57 strikes 38 balls, walked 2 or 3 (i forget) 9 hits, 2 hrs. 2 trilpes, no doubles(need to lower my outfielders speed maybe), total for the game was apprx. 130 pitches using 2 relievers, i lost 9-1 but gave up a 3 run hr using zito at 0 stamina (think it was a meat pitch), i was using 35 ffor piotche rfatigue but if this continues on like this i would nee to bump it up a bit, overall this was the most realistic game i've played so far and even the fielding was fine for me from this view, anyways it sure beats 75 strikes and 6 balls every game, lol.

For what it's worth, here's my combo for payoff pitching:

          Cam: Pitcher's Cam
          Pitcher interface Speed: 100
Strike Zone: OFF (no post pitch, no always on etc. OFF!)
Also upped the pitcher fatigue +5
AI Effectiveness MOD (under AI Batting) upped +20 to 80
(I believe this is to make the AI batter punish you or draw more walks on you when your pitcher is tiring or throwing bad pitches)
And upped all the CPU batting (skill, contact, power)
Oh and I let my catcher call the game except on very rare occasions I will overule him

          Made the difference for me.

Now I'm walking batters, the count goes much deeper and I strike out less batters. Averages per 7 innings pitched are: 2 to 4 BB, 4 to 8 K's, 1 to 3 HR's, around 80-90 pitches thrown per outting (around 7 innings)

I find that if you bump the cpu's contact and power up high enough, you will start walking guys. If the cpu makes you pay, you will be more likely to walk guys. I like pitching kind of scared.

I use payoff pitching because I like pitching from the behind the pitcher view.

Re: anyone finding pitching too easy ?????

ya know, this is a problem every year. you guys using zone pitching will soon master that also. any pitching method that allows to pinpoint all pitches is completely unrealistic.

all they need to add is one slider: like a pitch randomness slider

so people that like pinpoint control, they can accept default. but if you move the slider up...the ball ends up anywhere within a couple inches of the target you end up hitting. move the slider up for more randomness....so all of the sudden, trying to hit corners - some turn into balls and some are strikes.

also, breaking pitches would have more randomness than fastballs. much like in real baseball, when you have trouble locating your breaking pitches you may be forced to throw a fastball for a strike - with the danger of hitters sitting on it.

oh and you better believe the knuckleball would be affected the most by this slider, this is why wakefield walks so many batters...and also why he'd rather give the walk than send a 70 mph fastball into the strikezone when a hitter knows hes having trouble with his knuckler...

what do you think? i'd pay another $60 right now to have this slider in the game!

as far as i'm concerned they can do away with all types of pitch meter sliders, i also agree they can and will be mastered by anyone who plays long enough, variable slider built into payoff pitch would be nice, i wonder why they even have control listed when you go to edit a pitcher, doesn't make any difference if you lower them or not, still to accurate, i even created a pitcher with 0 control he could still paint the corners, i'll stick with letting my catcher call the game that seems to be the most realistic to me for this game.

                      Hi,
From the default allstar (even pro) value of 35.
So that would be 40 (under player options, this is for human pitching).
Note: most people lower pitcher fatigue by -5 (30). I upped it to intentionaly tire him faster and make the human pitches less effective as the game draws on. This in combination with the AI Effectivness MOD (punishes you if you miss) makes you pitch around the batter, consequently the AI draws more walks. It's all cause & effect.

Last game Jays (me) vs Boston (CPU) with their powerful lineup. Ended up walking 5 batters with a combination of 2 of my pitchers. 3 of the walks came from innings 5 to 7.

you can pitch from that view with any of the 3 different pitching meters.

ok, thanks for that, i started from the legend setting, i think default is 35 there as well, i found my pitcher tiring so was going to set to 30 like you said but what you say makes sense so i will try 30 as well to get a little more cpu action w/o having to set power to high or it just becomes hr city, my last game was great, i was arizona (livan hernandez) vs cincinnati (eric milton), hernandez went 8 2/3 innings and had 7 % stamina when i pulled him, he was all over the place at the end, walked 4 in the game and threw around 108 pitches 64 strikes and 44 balls, 59% strikes that seems pretty good to me, gave up 7 hits, 2 doubles and 1 triple, no hrs , the score was 1-1 going to the 10th then griffey hit a long double over my r fielder scoring freel from 1st., so trailing 2-1 going to the bottom of 10 cincinnati brings in weathers to close it out or so they thought, hehe, he got the first two but then connor jackson hit a double to left centre, up comes carlos quentin but i pinch hit tony clark instead, i work the count to 3-1, i'm looking for something to drive and boom a 2 run hr to r field to win the game 3-2, bad thing is they cut away so i didn't even get to see a replay , sure was a fun game though.

yes exactly, it's a fine balancing act to not get walked all over by the AI... But according to your last game with Livan, sounds like you've already a good balance that suits you. 8 1/3 innings with 7% stamina for Hernandez left is perfect in his case. I would leave your pitching sliders as is unless you want the cpu to draw more walks. But that game sounds like you struck a balance.
