    Simply Blown Away

This is officially the single best game I have ever played. Being off all week, I've pretty much played it non stop since it came out. I mean seriously - like ten hours a day. With the exception of some presentation hiccups (e.g. how Miller is always talking about 'the third hitting up next inning' instead of just introducing the batter), I think the game is virtually flawless. With one exception: the damn crowd! What a major bite it is to strike out the last batter of a game (or any such climactic moment) only to have the crowd react about the same (or often not as loud) as they would a routine single.

For you technologically savvy guys out there, is this something they can patch? I mean, honestly, if they could fix it so the crowd would react louder to timely strikes, homers, triples, etc., this game would be a 10 out of 10, imho. And if it is something they can patch, I suggest we do our collective best to campaign for it. How many emails suggesting such a patch (if possible) would it take? A couple hundred, if that?

    Whatcha think?

With the other bugs present in this game, that actually effect the gameplay, you're not going to see a patch that addresses the crowd.

well, I've won a few away games and on the last out, you'll hear a suttle "BOO" which I think is cool. Try adjusting the sound etc.. to a 100. At default it's at like 50 or 60. That might help you.

Yeah, I doubt you'll see a crowd patch either. I do have to say though this game is top notch. Even with it's bugs. While everyone is agonizing over it's bugs, I am enjoying every penny I spent on this game getting into my GM career. Last night I bought my first inside edge scouting report, and talk about a difference.

Thank god I'm not much of a baseball purist or all the other crap might actually get to me. I can easily just turn on the game and click play game, and love every second of it for the next 35 minutes.

I am having a blast with this game online. Even though I am 0-3 and I have only scored a total of 2 runs

For a two player game, I agree with you, this is a great game. Single player though is another story. Unless you want to play exhibition games all day long, the franchise mode is broken and I hope they can/will patch that. But I doubt it.

Yeah, I've already got the crowd at 100, and have spent considerable time on the sound settings. I'm just talking about how how there's not much difference (if any) between the reaction for a single and a HR, or how they don't seem to know, for example, if a player has hit a triple - they'll cheer the hit itself (the single) but don't erupt when he gets to third. Instead, there's even instances where the crowd completely dies out before the play is over.

The reason I suggested a patch is because the technology seems to be there: the crowd seems to know the difference between routine plays and dramatic ones. The cheer for a clutch single, for example, is perfect, but there's no 'next level' cheer for, say, a two-RBI triple, home run, or game-ending strikeout - like they just forgot to put those reactions in. In terms of, say, a 10-level reaction system, the crowd seems 'stuck' on levels 1-5, if you follow me.

very well said, cant' agree more.

Some people seem to demand that a VIDEO GAME imitate life as much as possible, if it doesn't, then it's broken.
It's their loss, to tell you the truth I really couldn't care less if someone is venting their frustration and "not buying this game because franchise mode is broken" or "this game is full of bugs".

I enjoy this title for what it is, a good, fun way to kill some time with a quality game simulating a sport that I love.
If I want the real thing, I'll go to the ballpark or down to the batting cages on Sunday afternoon.

I used to be like them. Then I imagine a conversation with a friend about this game going like this:

                Friend: How is MLB2k7?
Me: Ohh my god, sweet graphics, gameplay is fun as hell!!!
Friend: Sweet, how is online play?
Me: Obsessive, one of the coolest online games ever!!!
                Friend: How is franchise?
Me: Deep. There is a problem though.
                Friend: What's that?
Me: See, after a while the Ms move Ichiro to batting 3rd, the Sox have Drew leading off, and Abreu leads off too. Ohh and Pujols mysteriously vanishes from MLB action for months on end without injury. So their SIM stats become a little skewed.

I would imagine a kick square in the nuts for saying that.

I have no desire to play GM or Franchise mode to begin with. A 162-game season is like playing 10 years worth of games on NCAA. If the only problems are with simmed stats and depth charts in year four, I'll take that over bad gameplay any day of the week. This game's got gameplay coming out of its ears.

hahaha and a well deserved kick at that.

Btw, I have simmed a Cards dynasty the day the game came out (was curious). Pujols did get injured twice once for 15 days another time for a lil more. On both occasions the cpu put him on the DL and then moved him back in the lineup. I think this "bug" was grossly exagerated. Even if it is present, a great majority of people who buy this game play 1 season with their favorite team (to hell with what's happening to the rest of the teams in the league), and then move on to the facinating world of "UNO"....

I agree with you this is the best baseball game I have player. I have had a game rained out after the 2nd inng. I have had the cpu do a suicide squeeze. I like how the cursor chances do to how well the pitcher is pitching how the hitter is hitting hitting streak or slump. I almost feel like I am playing a different game then the one a lot of you are complaining about. I have yet to find anything that really bothers me about the game. There is so much to like.....

Yeah same here, i dont ever touch franchise..i just go with the season mode, always have. This game is flat out fun.. sure there are bugs, flaws, etc but it dont ruin the game for me and the most important part is its very playable, enjoyable and honestly... the most immersive baseball game to date, hands down

This game reminds me ALOT of NLF2k5, while NFL 2k5 had its share of bugs,flaws,etc.. it was VERY playable, fun and exciting let alone, much much more immersive and fun then Madden

Gameplay wise, its the best console game I've played. Franchise, however, is screwy so it limits the long term potential. Don't get me wrong, I'll have fun playing with my bro and cousins when we get back home. It's a nice stress reliever to play an exhibition game but if franchise CPU logic isn't fixed I'll stop playing the game in a month when the baseball season starts
