Re: Help with pitching
Jim,
I have been using the breakpoint pitching with the sliders slightly adjusted from pro. What I do is I let the catcher completely call the game. I go with whatever he calls, no matter what. I have had games where I threw almost 200 pitches and actually had a game where I threw more balls than strikes. The catcher does set up out of the zone a lot, but when there are 2 or 3 bals he almost always sets up for a strike. The thing is, he wants you to try and hit the corners and if you miss my just a little its a ball. I actually had a game where I walked 7 guys, and I have walked in 3 runs so far in my season.Comment

Re: Help with pitching
any body able to strike out the cpu consistently. It seems like the cpu hardly ever swings and misses, and doesn't swing at to many barely outside ball pitches either. Anybody got any tips. I playing on default pitching with breakpoints.Comment

Re: Help with pitching
Almost entirely depends on sliders. I'd fiddle with CPU contact and skill until you find a happy medium where you're able to K enough players that it feels right for you.Comment

Re: Help with pitching
As I mentioned above, I started on pro and the only things I changed were the AI take pitch sliders (I bumped them way up by about 50 each I think) and the Error sliders. I haven't touched anything else. I am having games where I will strike out 15, and some where I strike out 2 or 3. On my profile it shows I am averaging just under 7 per 9 IP. I am getting a good mix of k's looking and swinging."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: Help with pitching
One house rule I've always had established is to always try to nibble at the corners. Even if you're down 3-0 and the catcher calls for a strike up the middle. Wave him off and try to paint the corner anyway. This is with the K zone off and vibration off. I would like to see wild streaks early on by my pitchers, it seems to only happen if I'm below 50% for stamina where I cant hit my targets at a more consistent rate.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Re: Help with pitching
In combination with heelfan's sliders, I suggest the following pitching options:
K-Zone 2
Strike Zone - Post Pitch
Pitcher Interface Speed - 65
Breakpoint
Pitching feels absolutely PERFECT. I can hit the majority of my spots early, but will occasionally miss a few. When the catcher intentionally calls for a ball, sometimes I miss and leave it out over the plate. Sometimes I am trying to nail a spot for a strike, and miss the zone. Nailing a maximum effort perfect pitch feels great and the risk/reward seems spot on.Comment

I'm a believer in zone- its giving me great pitch counts. I threw 138 pitches a few games ago!

Re: Help with pitching
. I don't know how you do it. I like K-zone though, because there is room to make it tougher as I get better.
