My thoughts to a "T". It's not like you can play a franchise with The Show for the ps2 either.

I'm definitly disappointed with some things, but I told myself a long time ago, as long as I'm having fun, I'll stick with a game.. warts and all.

I'll get ootp for a deep, immersive franchise experience.

I would mirror your thoughts somewhat. I don't think VC games get a pass personally. But I think another reason is if you look at the "Little Things" thread - and the Little Things thread in any of the VC titles you mentioned. I think it's a situation where they got more right than wrong (which is key), and happened to exceed most's expectations in many areas. In that regard it's not unlike NFL2K5, where the game was flawed but you recognized the little details added that often go unnoticed but add immensely to the overall experience - as well as getting core gameplay elements mostly right. You look at any great game, and outside of the core gameplay it's usually the little things that people tend to appreciate the most
HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

The gameplay is fun, and this our only choice for baseball this season. The franchise has work-arounds, and for most people on this site who are diehard sports game fans, we will do the work neccessary (ex. 60 day DL Bug) in order to enjoy franchise. There is too much good here to pass up.

But we need to be sure to voice our complaints so that this doesn't happen again next year. As much as I love 2k7, we need competition back. I'm pretty sure if MVP 07 or ASB 07 was available, we wouldnt have all these franchise bugs.

I understand that that is the nature of video games but why does it always seem that the 2K bugs are infested with GIANT roaches while everybody else has a few ants here and there?

Imagine the crying whining and boycott calls (rightly so) if Madden '08 came out and part way through the season you had McNabb and Manning playing tailback and linemen returning punts (ahem..) in your franchise.

I would be more upset if it wasn't the only choice, and I wasn't enjoying the game so much. If you are so worried about "Realism" in a franchise mode then I think you're crazy. I haven't seen too many odd moves in mine, and so what if the batter orders are off a bit. Teams switch things up during the year to see what works best, especially if they are struggling.

I just guess I don't consider the "bugs" to be that annoying, if bugs at all.

That would upset me, and good point, but it's not like we have Cliff Floyd as a starting pitcher or Manny Ramirez as a Closer. That would better match the extremes I think you are talking about.

Re: Why does 2k7 get a "free pass?"

Acting like there are never any bugs in any franchise mode, regardless of game is utterly ridiculous. Madden has bugs all the time in the stat/sim engine, and it gets a pass. MVP didn't have progression right, IIRC, and it got a pass.

2k7 is fun. That's why I play it. If you don't like the franchise, so be it. If you can find something else out there that you like better, play it.

I agree. As long as I dont see Ichiro playing first, I think the lineups are tolerable. I don't mind them at all.

I personally am having the most fun I have had with a game since NCAA 2004. That is what matters to me...I look forward to playing my next game and I am immersed in the game when I do. As for franchise bugs, I haven't seen anything crazy yet and the lineups I have seen adjusted dont' bother me. I am just glad that they have injuries that carry over from game to game and pitcher's don't reset to full stamina after each game (ala 2K5)!

Exactly. Anyone IMO who can say that they don't see the improvement from last year to this year is just being silly. Does TT have some issues to iron out, yes they do. But, since dude wants to bring EA up, then let's bring them up. Can you say that there was a dramatic improvement from the first Madden on the 360 to the next, as was the case with MLB2K6 to 2K7?

Considering you have a new program manager this year to clean up this mess, you're bound to have some "growing pains".

I might add, for consoles, the best baseball franchise experience I have played is ASB '05. I am still playing a manage mode only franchise with the Braves and will continue to do so.

I give developers passes when they try to develop a quality game. EA NHL got a pass from me because they tried to be innovated and MLB the show got the same pass.

I cannot and will not give Madden or Live a pass for being lazy and taking out features.

So I can't vote for a President unless I actually meet and talk to them in person? I have to actually watch Pokemon before I say it is not for me? I have to actually eat rotten cabbage that has been buried for days before I say it is nasty? I have to purchase or rent MLB 2k7 (even though I researched it) before I can say it blows because franchise mode for me would be unplayable?

Not very logical reasoning. Is it?
