I decided to stick with my PS2 and The Show until next year's baseball titles come out (then choose wither 360 or PS3), but you guys are making it hard to wait .

Re: Any Comparisons to MLB: The Show??

I'm really happy with both games.

Like I said, it just pisses me off they screwed up the framerate and graphics in the show when they really should have left it alone. Problem is I still have the show 06, and I constantly compare 07 to it and am letdown in the graphics/framerate dept in 07. Also, the presentation for 07 is the same as 06, so there's not wow factor in presentation like there was in 06 since we're use to it.
Gameplay though, it's not even close, the show 07 kills the show 06.

But I also love 2k7. It's probably bec of the newness factor for me since I didnt play it last year. 2k7 just has that 'IT' factor where I can't stop playing it. Sort of like HH and MVP05 had.

As far as authenticity goes, 2k7 is great. They got the Red Sox batting stances and plate routines almost perfect. Dice-K's motion is ok in 2k7 but the show nailed it.
        I think Dice-K just uses a generic high-3/4 delivery in 2k7.

Thanks coffee. There are two issues with 2K7 that make it next to unplayable for me. First, they removed the AI Location slider this year, meaning one can’t tweak how far balls miss the strike zone. Now almost all balls miss the strike zone by an inch or two, and I find it impossible to tell balls from strikes. With the AI Location slider, one could have balls miss by a few inches or a foot. Don’t understand why they keep taking features and options and stuff out of this series…

The second issue I have is the Swing Stick and how ridiculously easy it is to hit the ball wherever it is you point the L Stick. I tried for two days to hit a ball to right field while holding the L Stick to the left, and couldn’t. EVERY hit heads to left field when holding the Stick to the left. Every hit heads right when holding it in that direction. Hold the stick down and all hits end up as groundballs. I just find that crazy simplistic. Again, why they ever got rid of True Aim and replaced it with that silly and completely unrealistic batting interface is beyond me.

I may pick up the game in a few months when the price drops – there are some great things about it that I really enjoyed. Just can’t see spending $80 Canadian on a game I’ll only play when I’m bored with The Show.

This year, well they improved the gameplay , but the game has 2 big problems :

1.Stuttering - doesn't run as smooth as last years game, big framerate issues this year.

2.Graphics not as good as last year. The graphics last year were smooth and vibrant, this year they are too pixelated and not smooth.

These 2 things they didnt have to mess around with but they did for some reason. If they did not, it would have been a complete all round great game.

It's really hard to go back to play the show after playing 2k7. The show has better gameplay than 2k7, but the stuttering framerate really takes away from it. Right now for me 2k7 is so much more fun to play. I only play seasons in baseball games, not franchises, so 2k7 franchise issues don't concern me.
I don't know if I would say the show has better game play, with some good sliders this game plays pretty real to me, just like the Show does with good sliders too.

              What sliders do you use?

I am enjoying the game default sliders, but I would like some more refined ones.

I can't remember the name of them, but it is on the slider thread. Heels are solid and their are some others that are great too, try them and see what works for you.

From my experience, I think the Show is a better overall game hands down. The 2k graphics are wonderful, but the Show's gameplay wipes the floor with 2k. Also, I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Sony is really good with the online roster updates, which is so important with a baseball game. From my experience with their other sports games, 2k is stingy with roster updates. You can count on the Show with an update every Monday. Just my two cents.

I have both games, and I still don't know how one can say the show's gameplay is so much better, oh well.

The show's fielding and batting are just superior to that of 2k.

2k's batting is horrorable IMO. I don't think the ball comes off the bat very realisticlly. I've seen pitches in on the hands get taken deep for HRs.

Fielding would be very even if 2k's camera angles were better. Although it doesn't happen all the time there are plenty of times when I can't tell if a ball is grounder or line drive because of the camera angle. It's starting to cost me runs.

I have both games too and I can tell that the Show is much better at gameplay. I'm actually playing 2K more at the moment as many have said that it draws you in. I haven't played a 2K baseball game in 2 years due to all the negative reviews from past years. However, when the PS3 game comes out later next month and they fix some of the issues they've noticed in the PS2 release, then it's no contest.

Correct. 2K is a damn good game, although it could improve in some areas. But we don't know if the Show will be any good until it comes out. Since I only have a 360, I'm happy with this game and Diamond Mind Baseball for my upcoming season!!
