      Correct. people should trust their catcher, and not that strike zone thing, it isn't right all the time, but it isn't bad, the umpire makes the decision..Sometimes if you look where the pitch was on the corner, sometimes its a ball and sometimes a strike, just like in real life..Human error...Great way of putting it in game, whether intentional or not.

        yeah i understand that but my errors happen when say its a line drive of sorts, my infielder will just run through where the ball is going to go. Even if I tap it a bit. Thankfully, it doesn't happen often

          OK just wait until 2k8. then he will say that is was really a 3 year plan. then in 2009 MVP will get the license back (?) and we start over on a 3 year plan again.

          and please compare his interviews before and after the release. before the release he never talked about the fielding. then after most people who buy baseball games actually bought this game, he then talked about the negatives to get you all thinking about next year.

          in the real world software development does not work on a 3 year plan. you don't go live unless it is perfect (i.e. no bugs). so, maybe they should first fix the bugs for 2k8. then, work on new things w/o breaking what they just fixed.

          this should not take until 2009!

                Okay, we know how historically awful 2K5 and 2K6 were. We were told about this 3-year plan before 2K7 came out. We are being told 2K8 will still be a game 'in development'. How much more info do you need not to buy the game if it's something you wouldn't be interested in purchasing?

                Seems to me the 2K baseball development team are being very upfront here. You think EA would come out and talk about their games like this?

                  Before the game came out he was talking about how the game was on a three year plan. There's no way you can totally improve a game in less than a year.

                        Nah, I remember after the Triple Play series, once they started marketing MVP, Brinkman give them three years to get it to where they want it.

                        At least he's being consistent.

                          Well, 2K publicity material hasn't said anything about improving in 3 years either, just in interviews. Same thing with the MVP/Triple Play series, I remember them saying 3 years and it'll be a hit, and it was.

                            Right, but developers doing interviews can and should be considered publicity material for a company. These aren't informal, off-the-record comments. They're representing the company, and they're speaking on the company's behalf.

                              All I can say is, MLB2K7 can play a game of baseball, but 2K6 couldn't. Yes, the fielding isn't great, but compared to last year, it's at least playable. He's right, the icon popping up to inform you when to dive and wall climb is bad, and it's actually pretty cheap programming (this icon basically allows the canned animation to match up with the ball). It doesn't give you the feeling that you accompished the great catch. So, he recognizes that, and he explained why he things the fielding sucks. However, the team did fix a lot of fielding issues, but they didn't change the actual fielding mechanics. We all knew that they weren't looking to change mechanics, but looking to refine them, and make them playable. His team did that, and next year is the year where they can change some mechanics, especially the fielding mechanics.

                              I don't want to give Brinkman the entire credit here, as he's not the guy programming the game. He's pretty much the leader that keeps the designers in focus and lays out the plans. He keeps the over ambitious programmers of Kush in check, probably by giving them all a once daily take of Adderall. It beats the designers trying to program every thought they have into the game, which created the mess in the first place. I think the programmers know their stuff, but they need direction, and he provides that.

                                You know, I hear everybody talking about this thing where it tells you when to dive or not, but I didn't get this thing when I was playing. Perhaps it's because I turned off some visual aids. I turned off the ball trail, the fly ball landing target, and the name under the player. I didn't have any of those icons like it showing me when to dive or not.
