    Depends on your power sliders and how much you use the power swing. But here's what I do: I divide the HR and Power sliders into 5 units -

    20% = a player who hits around 10 HR's a year;
    40% = a player who hits around 20 HR's a year;
    60% = a player who hits around 30 HR's a year; etc.

    If you look at Damon and Jeter, their Power and HR ratings are way too high. They're around 70% as I recall. Yet both guys each hit 56 HR's over the past three years. So their Power and HR ratings should be just below 40%, not 70%. There are a ton of players in this game that need their Power and HR ratings dropped that much.

      Re: Guys, I need help, I just can't stop hitting home runs!

      I understand that the ratings and sliders can mess up the HR game, but seriously, push the swing stick down and release to hit. By doing this, only those pitches/hits that should be homeruns, will be. Trust when you hear this.
      I get homeruns and have hitters hitting above .300, without using the swing stick to my hitters advantage. I get a great hit variety and the key sliders look like this:
      Contact 35
      power 15
      influence 15
      power stick 15

      pitcher difficulty 75
      pitch speed 65

      I trained myself to really take my time with at-bats and have seen tons of walks...I haven't had the homerun problem since I started hitting the way I am recommending...Try it; the worst that can happen is that you get fed up because you aren't hitting 6 hrs a game...
      Go Blue!!!

          So I went into the player ratings. Lowered power and home run numbers. Figured this would solve the problem. Nope.

          And for those of you who will complain, I DO NOT hold up on the thumb stick, I go with the pitch ala MVP. The problem is that whenever I get an inside fastball, gone! Doesn't matter if it's ARod or Robinson Cano. And yes, I use the Yankees, but as I said, I've lowered all of their individual ratings.

          Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
          1. Don't use the Yankees
          2. Don't use the thumb stick
          3. Close one of your eyes while hitting
          4. While standing on your head

          That should cut down HR's quite a bit. :wink:

          Seriously, I would keep lowering the Yankees power #'s. A little at a time. Also, lower the pitch speed ! To counter this, put the hitting camera zoomed to "100". The pitches still come in pretty fast, or appear to because you look much closer to the pitcher.

            If your using the swing stick the put the step influence to 100 contact 5 power 0 swing stick power 0. Turn meatball pitches to 0. Make there pitchers harder. I still hit some with this but not that many.

              DONT use the hitters eye at all, and just hit the A button for contact, and if timed perfectly u will get a hr but no where near the amount when u use the left analog stick and the a button at the sametime. In MVP they did it perfect where u push the left stick is where the head of the bat was going , so u payed when u swang wrong and it all made sense. In this game the head of the bat is going where it needs to be and the push of the left sitck is where u want to place the ball, that is one of the reasons why it is so easy to hit hr's in the game.

                Re: Guys, I need help, I just can't stop hitting home runs!

                If I didn't know better, I'd think the title of the thread was damn funny...like hitting HR's in baseball is a bad thing. It'd be like seeing a thread titled "Guys, I need help, I keep having amazing sex with hot blondes."

                MY HR totals have been fairly realistic through about 20 games of the season. I have one guy with 5, one guy with 4 a few with 1, 2 or 3. I think I have 22 or 23 HR's in 20 games. Basically, I use the power swing with Chavez, Piazza and Bradley most of the time and only with other guys when I guess right with the Batters Eye and it's in a location that I think I can drive.

                There are other situations where I will change my philosophy, but for the most part, I stick to this and am having pretty realistic games with realistic results.

                I'm 9-11, with a .270-ish average. I've been shut out tiwce and have only scored in double digits once or twice (though one game I did score 17 runs, the next game I was shut out). I had a string of games where I would score only 1 or 2 runs, then went on a streak of 5 or 6 games where I was putting up 7,8 or 9 runs. I think on the season, I'm averaging just under 6 runs a game (but if you pull out that 17 run game, I'm at about 5).

                I'm actually enjoying not winning. It's even more fun because at 9-11, I'm only one or two games back of the Angels.

                    Baa, just one question: What about upcoming newly-signed rookies? Will they recreate this juiced league that is known as MLB 2K7 untouched? Do you edit them as well?

                      The only way to have 100% control over homeruns is to edit the individual player rating for the "home run" attribute.
