I think Swing Stick is better. I find it very easy though so I use classic in hopes of adding difficulty. It does jack up your buttons though.

This will probably be the opposite from what anyone else will say.

Tried the swing stick and I just do not like it. Besides I've been playing baseball video games for over 20 years by just pressing a button to swing the bat.

It's harder, better, and the game was designed for the swing stick. Classic is really a very poorly programmed and designed interface - almost like it was added as an afterthought.

I hate swing stick. I guess I've been using classic for so long in other video games that my brain just won't adapt.

Do you have any control of where the batter swings at? Can you swing at outside, high, or low pitches? Or are you essentially just swinging in the middle of the strike zone every time?

It would make sense that you should be able to use the left stick to target what area you'd like to be swinging at so that even if a pitch is outside the strike zone you could still hit it if you wanted to.

I've never owned a baseball game and I really don't like watching baseball on TV but I downloaded the demo and I can't stop playing it.

Neither are very good in this game.

Classic is better, but Swing Stick has more potential. MVP NCAA has the best ever swing system, which is their Zone setting. You push the stick in the general direction the ball is in and how you hit it is based on your timing and the direction of the swing.

I agree both are pretty bad, but how can you say classic is better? The swing stick at least has sliders and mechanics that affect both difficulty and hit variety. Classic hitting in MBL 2K7 is probably the easiest and most one-dimensional hitting system, ever.

Classic is best, but I would use swing stick if they fixed it. It is not a natural motion to pull a stick back and then release for a normal swing. It should be backwards and then forwards, that'd make more sense.

Yes, using the R stick. And the thing is it's much more difficult to do than with classic.

                              Re: Swing stick or classic

I love how people want games to evolve, and how people wish to not adapt to the evolution. Gamers seem so contradicting.

Anyways, the SwingStick basically puts the same control on the "R" stick that can be done with the "L" stick and "Button" on classic. While both are timing systems, the timing with the SS is more crucial. With classic, in order to power swing, all you need to do is hold up on the L stick and press "A". The motion on the SS requires a more precise amount of timing.

Those who feel that the SS is not natural are typically doing it wrong. You do not do a continuous motion to swing. It's a simple concept, and a two step process that adds another mechanic to hitting system.

With the SS, it's important to react to the different delivery's that each pitcher offers. When the pitcher is about to release the ball out of his hand, you must press and hold down on the "R" stick. This is "step timing", and your contact is determined by how well you time the step (with classic, step timing is done for you, and it is always done at the highest perfection). When you wish to swing, you simply release the "R" stick for contact, or push up for a power swing. You do not wait until you have to swing at the ball to initiate the "R" stick mechanic.

1.) Press and HOLD down on the "R" stick as the ball leaves the pitchers hand
2.) When you need to swing, simply release the stick for contact, or push up for a power swing.

When you do it right, the SS will make more sense while also feel much more natural overall.
