Re: Swing stick or classic
I think they need to fix the "classic" control to work like the Swingstick. That way there is no advantage when those use it. Instead of simply pressing "A" to swing, you should be forced to press and hold the button for the step timing, and release it to swing. It would work exactly the same, and would give the advantage due to perfect step timing that's done by the CPU.Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
I just can't get any hit variation using swing stick. I'm trying sleepers sliders with the batter influence up to 100 and the contact and power really low, and probably 75% of my hits up are up the middle as either hard hit groundballs or liners. Through 8 or 9 games I haven't hit a single ball down the line or anything into the corner, nor have I seen a groundball make its way between the first and second baseman, or between third and short.
I was thinking about lowering my infielder's speed sliders down a little to perhaps get more grounders through, or the rare shot down the line, but I'm afraid I'm just going to have too many hits as I'm still going to get a lot of stuff right up the middle.
I've also tried the 100 contact, low power ideas as well w/o much luck.
Could someone break down the step influence slider for me? I've got it relatively low b/c I assumed the higher it was the more precise your step had to be, and I'm still striking out just a tad too much so I didn't want to make it harder to make contact.
Also, when I try to roll the stick left/right depending on the location of the pitch, the majority of the time I simply foul the ball off (a nice change), but it doesn't seem to add much to hit variety. Am I missing something? Are people really getting line drives to the corners and grounders between the infielders? I never seem to really pull (or go the other way) anything. I also check the replay a lot and see the ball going straight through the bat when the timing isn't perfect. If those balls that went straight through the bat made contact, it looks like they would be the pull/push I'm looking for.
I'm loving the game besides this pretty big issue.Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
I like the swing stick, but I am using heelfans sliders and he has it set for classic. I tried his sliders using the swing stick and seem to hit a HR almost everytime I push up on the stick. Or at least way more than I should. So far after ONE game with classic I hit NO HR and had a 2-1 toght game. But if i could find away to not hit HRs so frequently with the SS, I would definatley use that more.Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
What you just said about classic swing is completly un true..
Classic is not 1 dimensinal hitting systems depending on the type of sliders you use you can get hit the ball all over the place. The only difference in classic swing the the swing stick besides you choosing which side of the feild you want to hit it on is that is classic mode if you time the swing button right and hit it the AI places the ball for you using their own skill While on the swing stick you place the ball for yourself thats the only difference between the 2 with right sliders you can strike out just as easiley as you can with the swing stick.Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
Is there ANY way you guys have found to try to influence a ground ball for such things as a hit and run (other than a bunt) using the swing stick?Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
I have meesed around with the game and the sliders long enough to know that on classic swing if all you do is time your swing the CPu will place the ball where they want.. For EX I created a catcher after playin 2 games with him I look at his inside ege report and guess what? 24 Percent of his hits went toward 1st baseline he is a right hand batter do you actually think I am going to try and beam the 1st baseman when I hit the ball especially on a right handed batter ? .. I should note that the 1st 2 games he did not get on base 1 time. Trust me he was placeing the ball by himself. I have now played 6 games with him and the biggest percent of his hit destination has changed and I have never tried placing the ball with him where i want it to go. Thats why I use classic mode in the 1st place is to let them place the ball.Comment

Re: Swing stick or classic
Two things: going back to the Hardball series, there's never been a baseball game where the AI or game programming auto-selects where your User batter is going to direct the ball. Second, if this feature was in fact in the game, one would think it would be documented somewhere, and it isn't. In fact, the game specifically instucts you on how to direct the ball - by using the stick. And of course, based on the timing of your swing. You're imagining things.Comment
