Re: How about Updates from Ben Brinkman

I cant help but chuckle a little about how some people look at this Ben guy like his a video game god or something. I loved MVP 2005 as much as the next guy but this Ben guy didnt do it on his own. He had a lot of help from a lot of talented people. A manager is only as good as the players on the field. I guess all Im saying is dont be surprised if once this three year thingy is up that the game still isnt that great. I hope that it will be though.

But you need the guy with the ideas first! And Ben seems to have those.

Yeah, if I had to pick a guy it would be him but he cant do it on his own.

Obviosuly it's nto all him, but I think there is some direct correlation of him coming over to 2K and the immediate improvement from 2K6 to 2K7.

Exactly. The MLB2K series has sucked since it was still World Series Baseball. I hated it every year, and 2K6 was just awful. Then, in one years time, Brinkman joins the team, and 2K7 is the best baseball game I've ever played.

            It's no coincidence, sorry.

I strongly disagree, 2k3 and 2k4 was great in my mind. The 2k series went to hell once kush came along which was 2k5 I think.

I think he said that. When he said "World Series Baseball", I think he meant anything with Blue Shift.

And, while Brinkman is probably a big reason for the complete 180 in the franchise, I have a feeling he's not the only person, and that everybody from Kush seems to probably want what he wants as well. Whoever they had before probably wasn't even a baseball fan.

The best baseball game I've ever played was the MVP series.... well, I guess that makes sense since Brinkman was the man in charge of that as well....Hopefully MLB 2K8 will add all the right animations to make this the best baseball/sports game ever!

Ben was a big part of the MVP team from 2003 on, but he wasn't "the man in charge" until MVP 06.

Did you play 2k7 for the 360? If so, what do you think Ben & co. went to work on the most from previous experience with him?

Nah, not really. I was pretty baseball'd out for awhile. Knowing Ben, gameplay would've been his primary focus (as obvious as it seems).

When will the MLB 2K series start getting ratings like the MVP series? I just checked the reviews for the MVP series; MVP 03- 8.5 04-9.0 05- 9.2! When will the 2K series get even an 8?! I am hoping MLB 2K8 will be able to surpass these numbers that MVP has put up, since Brinkman is on the 2K team now, there is no reason why he can't and shouldn't get the gameplay to match the MVP series!

MVP had no herky-jerky animations.... swings, throws, baserunning were all smooth and awesome looking! Now it's 2K's turn!

MLB 2K7 has the graphics down, now they just need the MVP gameplay! I'm counting on you Ben Brinkman, and I trust that you can get the job done with MLB 2K8!

I think part of it is that reviewers are being harder on games nowadays. There are a lot less 9.0 or 9.5 games for the 360 than there were for the xbox. Some of that is lower quality, some of it is harder grading.
