You know those types, from all the ones that played against them in school. The soccer mom rooting section. High maintenance.

Considering Pavano's track record this isn't at all surprising. He gives people reason to root for the underdog kid that made it out of nowhere. That's why I like Manny Ramirez. He may be a bit cooky and out there but all he wants to do is play baseball and he did it growing up with nothing in Washington Heights.

      /agree 100%

Not cause he is a Red Sox, but because of the tings you said. And his work ethic is undeniable. He works on his hitting craft like Ted Williams used to.

The man just loves the game, and wants to have fun in it too.

Everytime someone starts a conversation about Manny I always think back to an ESPN article I read about him way back in maybe 2000 or so.

It talked about how even to that day Manny had trouble finding Jacobs Field and would get lost on several occassions just driving to the field. It talked about how he'd just day dream and not even know where he was or pay attention to directions.

He just wanted to get to the batting cages and swing a bat. That's all he cared about doing. It's all he thought about in his daily life most of the time.

Again, he's cooky and there's a reason people usually say "That's Manny being Manny" but it isn't negative. Manny is just a character. A character that loves baseball. It's sad that there was a time everyone wanted to say that the guy was a cancer in the clubhouse. Yet every teammate talks about how great the guy is. How couldn't he be? Look at him? Man, I wish I knew him personally. Him and Ortiz look like a lot of fun just to hang around with on a daily basis.

The closest I got to Manny, was when a friend of mine was doing the HVAC work on his new house a few years back. So I was able to go there and he offered us food and signed a few baseball cards and gave them to me. Was a real fun day, he liked to joke around a lot and just was a relaxed and "heartfull" person. I felt a lot of love for the game in him, and all he talked about that day was baseball and adjusting his hitting to always try and make the perfect swing every time.

The media gives him a bad rap, cause he isn't the most social, and doesn't put his feelings into words too well. He puts his feelings in his work ethic. And after that day I can respect the guy forever. There is nothing the sensational BS media can do to tarnish that. Just a cool dude, that wants to have fun playing a kids game.

And you are right about the day dream thing, he thinks baseball and how he can better himself as a hitter 24/7.

Yeah, that was too funny! And remember how the media tried blowing it up as if Manny who makes 20 mil a year "needed money"! Such tards!

I thought that was cool of him to do that, and was funny as heck as to how carefree the many is. Good stuff!
