Same here...On Slickdeals, net daily to see any deals for a PS3. I wont give up my 360 though. I would buy the PS3 for their exclusives. Trying to save up some cash right now to get me a PS3.

If you really wanted a PS3 you can get the 40GB model for $299 through the Sony Website if you sign up for the Sony Card. Also, if you were looking for a HD TV, you could get a free PS3 when you buy a TV from Sony.

I ask how is this hurting them by not giving us videos days or weeks ago? Are they losing sales?
I disagree 100%. We make up what, maybe 1/2-1% of their fan base? So there may be some hype on these boards, but that doesn't help them in the grand scheme of things. The casual fan, which makes up most of their market isn't ever going to know anything about this game. Plus, this isn't even their own website. I sure don't believe that their marketing goal is to send people to other websites to find out info about their game. If it is, it's no wonder they can't sell their product. "Our goal is to rely on other companies to promote our product, while we do absolutely nothing...muwhahahaha"

And as far as genius goes, their marketing department is anything but. Proof? Look at NBA 2K. It has been the consensus #1 basketball game for the past 2 years and still gets outsold by it's competition. Why would a better product get outsold by the competition? Because nobody knows how good it is because the company that makes the game doesn't tell anyone about it. To me, that is far from genius in every sense of the word. It's exactly what you don't want from a marketing group. You don't want your product sitting in the dark, while the competition is out there showing off theirs.

I'm under the impression that the last thing you want to do is piss off your company, and suprisingly, that seems to be what they do best when it comes to giving the customer what they want. You want info on 2K products, don't go to 2K.com because that is the last place you'll ever see anything. Why in the world are their pictures on ign.com and gamespot.com, but not on 2K.com?

Will this matter if the game is great? Yes, because again, a great product will be missed by many because they don't even know it exists. It won't matter to us because we're looking for the info regardless, but most aren't. Now it won't matter if it is today or next week, but in the grand scheme of things, 2K doesn't do themselve any favors when it comes to promoting their product....the proof is in the sales. It's even more amazing with the internet as a tool. The amount of low cost or free promoting they can do is damn near unlimited, but instead they choose to do nothing. And they suffer from it.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me. It's still the middle of January and I'm more focused on the NFL playoffs and could care less if a video doesn't show up for another few weeks...but as a 2Ksports fan dating back to the Dreamcast, I know how 2K works and have just come to accept the company for what it is. After a years of this, I've been trained to now lower my expectations as far as getting info on the game and on the actual game themselves.

But if you honestly think that their is some secret mad plan that the marketing department is following and is purposely holding back info, I would bet the house that you're wrong. History is on my side

KushGamer hasn't even really been around in a few days. Looks like they put the skids on their little marketing push that hit us late last week.

My guess is they're so busy finishing up the game, that he doesn't have time to post here. Those guys work insane hours leading up to a game going gold.

yeah but (and i know.. enough with the SCEA comparisons) but there's two The Show developers (one is the "MLB Sr. Producer/Designer" and the other is the "MLB Lead Animator") and they routinely post on the boards with pictures, info, answers to Q&A's. i'm not getting mad at Kush in any way at all b/c I appriceate him taking time to come on here and tell us what he can, although I'm sure they limit him.. but I don't want to hear that "they have no time" because seriously.. how hard would it be to come on here once or twice a day for 10-15 minutes and answer some questions or something

Good point. Kolbe and Chris do visit the site and post frequently (they are also close friends with OS's owner, Steve). You won't find that very often and I suspect they are asked by superiors to do that. It's also possible they have a larger development crew that allows them the extra time to get on OS and post.

Regarding the "they have no time". I guess it's all in what they want to do. If I was working 15-18 hours everyday to get a game finished, I probably wouldn't come on here to answer questions or post pics in my free time. I'd probably spend it with my family/friends. I can't speak for 2K or SCEA, but I have worked in software development shops before and right before any release, those guys work insane hours....and often sleep at the office.

What companies should do is have one of their marketing people handle the questions and post pics on certain websites. That would allow the developers time to develop and the marketing people can do what they're best at.
