Different Throwing Varations

Hi, I have been browsing these forums for awhile and finally decided to post becuase of my excitement for the upcoming mlb 2k8. Fielding has always been my favorite part of baseball and baseball games(maybe one of the select few) and it gives me lots of joy when i make a long throw from third to get a speedy runner out at first. Now I have three questions for everyone. Do you think they will have lots of different throwing varations like jeters patented jump throw or guys throwing sidearm(looks like they may have it in by look of the reyes pic) opposed to overhand? Will these throws be harder to pull off than a routine throw? And will we be able to tell the diffrence in a fielders arm strength like A-Rod opposed to David Eckstein lol and can we adjust how hard we want to make a throw(probably if the throw meter is the same as MVP but still wondering)?....whew..

Oh and please comment I would like to hear everyones answer and point of view and maybe your favorite part of baseball like fielding, pitching, batting, etc..Ok now i'm done lol

I don't know for sure, but I think you will be able to tell the difference.

I couldnt tell u, im sure Eck's throw will be weaker than Rolens among others..
Im just wondering about bunts like if somone bunts and u use a 3B I hope its not a pain to throw it fast same with DP's thats one reason i wasnt a fan of MVP throwing mechanic, some plays in the field just happen to fast for a meter sometimes... pitching and batting analog is awesome though!

You could always charge a throw in MVP2005 that made this a non-issue.

Thats what i mean for the double plays too, different players have the ability to turn double plays faster becuase of their arm strength. In 2k7 you couldn't tell the difference becuase everyone turned them the same. Let's say you have A-rod at shortstop(for whatever reason) and he has a gun, so he's going to be able throw out player quicker than a Eck(lol once again).

If you go to this thread here, and listen to the podcast or my notes of what was said, it gives you a good idea.

Basically the double play was redesigned with awesome results, a ton more fielding/throwing animations, and the fact a more athletic fielder will get the ball and get rid of it quicker with bare handed type 180 degree animations under the circumstance, where a less than athletic one wont be able to do.

And you can pre-load the throws as well.

This even excites me more. For SO long baseball games have just been about pitching and hitting. Fielding was not realistic at all. Every guy on the field was just as capable as another guy in making a good play. Sure arm strength was different and some guys would be faster but there is more to it then that. Accuracy of throws and agility are huge. Jeter makes that jump throw because he is Jeter. Eckstein does not make that jump throw because he is Eckstein.

Also breaking up double plays is a huge part of baseball that is looked upon. Well I'm glad they are adding this in and the fact that making a quick good accurate throw could mean making or breaking the dp. In all video games in the past dp's weren't really hard earned. Just preload the throw no matter what and you have a pretty darn good shot at turning it. There is obviously more skill involved in turning dp's especially harder ones and it's great that they are acknowledging this for 2k8.

Definetley man. You go to Fenway a lot?? I don't even bother going there anymore myself. I am going to road games now instead. It's actually cheaper and I get to see places I never been and I can get better seats. I went down to Tampa last September for a weekend series (actually saw them clinch down there) and it was awesome. I haven't been to Florida since I was like 10 back in 93' and the Trop was seriously one of the best ballparks I ever been to. It was really cool being in a dome. I got seats online from Devil Rays site for $115 they were 3 rows from field home plate side of Ray's dugout 4 rows from dugout. I met Carlos Pena. It was awesome. Also drove down to Baltimore to see them play the O's and had great seats there for like $90.

But I am definitely going to go to away games now. I always wanted to see Camden (Oriole Park now), so I will definitely be making a trip down there. Tampa sounds very temping too. Can probably fly down, stay at or near the park and see 2-3 game series, and fly back for cheaper than 2 games at Fenway now. Only because the price gouging is insane for online sites, etc.

Hell, I can get 4 tickets in a row for Yankee Stadium games when the Sox are playing CHEAPER, than 2 in a row for Fenway on eBay. Obviously due to the large capacity and not as friendly "closeness" Fenway has.

I live in CT too actually. In the Northern Foothills now, but lived in the New Britain Hartford Area before that. Only and extra 40 minutes ride, but I am 20 minutes from NY border, so I can hop on a highway in NY and head straight south. I have a buddy (my best friend) who is a Yankee fan (I know weird, but we are baseball people first) and he grew up in NY, but lives in the Wilmington, DE area. So I go visit him once in a while, and since he is closer to Camden, it would be great for us to go. He is all for it. He don't mind going to Red Sox games, just as I don't mind Yankee ones. We love baseball first, but still are fans of our teams.

My wife's family lives right outside Seattle, so I plan on seeing Safeco for sure!

P.S. He hates Steinbrenner's, as much if not more than any Red Sox fan. He is an "old school" Yankee fan at heart.

Have you guys ever been to Citizen's Bank Park(Phillies)? That park is beautiful compared to Yankee Stadium which is great in it's own historical way.

And by the way in a baseball game(maybe 2k8) I want to feel like I have a chance to beat out a throw from an average fielder who can't make a crazy throw compared to a jeter or Mike Lowell(for you red sox fans) who nevers makes an error or bad throw and be like"oh crap im out".

I have driven by Citizen Bank on my way back from Baltimore. It was actually a sunday night game of the week this last August against I believe the Braves. From 95 I saw the park all lit up. It looked gorgeous from 95 I can only imagine inside. The lighting was just incredible I think it's because it's such a new ballpark.
