Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
okay...so they still dont plan on every fixing the crack of the bat sound? Has anyone in the 2k studio ever BEEN to or even PLAYED one game of the sport?
a minor gripe, but it really kills all realism hearing that soundYankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Unfortunately this game doesn't look promising. I'll wait and see what the reviews are and buy the show again. It still seems to have awkward physics and unrealistic gameplayComment

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
Cool????
I dont get it.....so the player cant simply turn his head while running to watch the ball?? Do they mean he has to run back then turn around to check where the ball is going then run back some more.....You know, in real life you can actually run and watch the ball at the same time.
The way I took that is: they didnt fix the players heads following the ball!!!
Just like last year, the players are still going to be able to catch a ball while looking the other way and blindly throwing their glove up.....(sigh)
Same way with the batters watching the ball after the hit from the looks of the videos..
2K, its time to scrap the 90's graphics and animations engine...Players still look robotic and unatural, and you didnt think at some point that maybe we need to get some different announcers or at least change the dialogue, you know, since its been the same for 3 f'n years!!! .....or maybe its time to cut your losses and sell the D.AMN RIGHTS BACK TO SOMEONE WHO CAN MAKE A DECENT GAME OF BASEBALL...........
ps you also forgot poor player ratings .Comment

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
I did I bought one too for The Show.
Couldnt take the chance of the same old stuff from this mlb 2k series, if you cant even fix the bat sounds that EVERYONE complains about for years what does that say about 2k listening to us . So far very disapointing.Comment

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
MY early impressions/Thoughts on the videos are:
Overall...not very impressive
Graphics: Based on the Quality of last years player models and graphics 2k8 seems to be a downgrade in visuals. The grass and other textures almost look Xbox/ps2-ish in quality..As a self-proclaimed graphics whore I'm not feeling the look of the game.
Gameplay: Its to early to tell about gameplay but I don't like seeing all those damn HR's...Particularly when my biggest gripe about last years game was HR's and the abundance of them. I think the gameplay will be tight though...Not sure if I like all the stuff going on with the stick to pitch...I never was a fan of Mortal Combat codes to do something as simple as throwing a pitch...No rush to judgment here though.
2k IMO is dropping the resin bag by not producing their own promotional/marketing videos in house to really show off things like hit variety, fielding etc. Letting some clowns from IGN throw meatballs and/or otherwise show the game at its unflattering worst is not good at all. I'm not down on the game yet because that would be very unfair and premature But seeing that 1st damn video and subsequent videos with those damn HR's made me think..."Here We Go again!!!"
I'll be getting both the SHOW and 2k8 but just making a snap irrational; judgment on media alone...and knowing what both games bring to the table with past gameplay I can see myself looking more forward to the SHOW..Thats kinda disappointing too because I have lofty expectations for 2k8Last edited by Oldschool17; 01-26-2008, 08:12 AM.Comment

Re: IGN Preview (1/25)
IMO this game does not compare to The Show from what I saw in them videos.. I own a PS3 so I will buy both, then decide for myself. Only one thing I want to see from 2K is total team control, if they have that then I can deal with the rest. What is up with the flappy uniforms though? I havent played a 2K title game so Im not sure of all the features. Was there a F5 Tornando heading to Fenway on the doppler? Like I said, IMO the player models to me sucked, I was really shocked from what I saw this year.ANd gameplay looks choppy.Hope I am wrong this year.Comment

First you realize that IGN obviously doesn't know how to play the game and are the ones causing this thought that homeruns are easy to hit again (how anyone can even say that knowing that IGN is probably playing on Rookie and was obviously throwing meatballs just shows me how silly people can really be)...
But then you say, "Here we go again" in reference to the homeruns. Which is it? LOL, you people make me laugh.
How is it "Here we go again" when you just confirmed yourself that IGN is the reason why we see homeruns.
