Actually you can aim the ball, it's all about timing, you want to take it to left swing early, but it better be inside, or your going to have a double play ball occur.

It should be etched in stone that you are going to hit a sac fly just because you hit "up on the right analog stick" or whatever way you would do it. Still the type of pitch should reflect this. I think it would be nice to have both options but just look at the bright side....It will be realistic. You will have to go up to the plate just like the hitter would in real life. You would have to look for a pitch you could hit in the air and lay off anything that is not up in the zone. Look how rewarding it is for players that do it in real life. It's like all he did was hit a routine fly out to the outfield but he is being congratulated by his whole team. It's a very rewarding feeling and I think it would be more rewarding if you did it this way. I guess if I could have it any way I would have it both ways where you predetermine it so you can set up for a certain type of swing but with the exception that your swing will actually change and it will effect possibly contact power and everything realistically. Of course pitch location and type would be very important as well.
I agree that would be rewarding, but what would be even more rewarding is to not only get your pitch, but also direct your swing in such away that you actually influence the hit and not the game. In other words, you get a pitch up in the zone and aim your swing right under the bottom half of the ball sending the ball deep into the outfield to drive in the go ahead runner on a sac fly in the bottom of the 9th. Not just hitting the ball up in the air because you got a pitch up.

Hell even more rewarding, would be knowing that it's a sac fly opportunity and knowing that the pitcher is going to try and get you to chase something low and attack you down in the zone, so you cheat a little and still get under a low pitch and drive it deep enough to score the run.

Again, I don't want a system where I press up and hit a fly ball, I want a system where I aim my swing under the ball to put it in the air, the difference is huge.

Again, if location is the main (not only, but main) factor in the result of a hit, then as a pitcher online or against the computer, why not just aim every pitch for the bottom of the zone and never really about the opponent hitting the ball in the air. You could pump nothing but low strikes and either get singles or groundballs.

I guess the same way the old cursor system worked...only instead of aiming with the left and pressing a button to swing, you would aim with the left and use the swing stick...honestly, until you try it, I don't know how odd/difficult this would actually be. So on a pitch down and in, you would press the left cursor down and in and then go down and up with the right stick....could be complicated, though, who knows.

I would only welcome a cursor hitting system again if it were more like ASB and not like WSB.

The ball sized cursor is dumb. Make it the size of a baseball bat and now I'm thinking about it making a return especially if it includes more than just the sweet part of the bat.

This way a cutter can really affect a swing. You'll think you're swinging at a fastball (fat part over the ball) and then watch the cutter move into your knuckles.

          I would welcome that.

I agree a bat shaped and sized cursor would be ideal. I believe that Japanese game (Pro Yaku Spirits or something) has this. I guess to make it more realistic a better contact hitter would have a bigger bat shaped area and a bad hitter (say a pitcher) would have a minimal shape. I think this is the only way you can distinguish between a guy who doesn't strike out and a guy that strikes out every other at bat.
