Man, I couldn't agree more. Miller and Morgan are nice as an idea, but they just haven't worked out the way the need to for quality broadcasting. From previous mentions by Brinkman, it just sounds like they can't get these guys to put in enough time in the studio, which kills the presentation (whether it's a time or $ issue is beside the point).

I don't really know if they could get what they need (what we want) from any real professional announcing team, whether it be from ESPN, Fox Sports, TBS, WGN, YES, etc. Most of these guys work year round and probably won't be able to put in the effort for a video game.

I think Dan and Peter would be perfect. I'm sure they would get some flack for not being authentic voices of the MLB, but most importantly they would be able to provide the quantity needed for detailed commentary on the game. They definitely are not amateurs and have provided quality announcing for the NFL/APF series and I believe they were also in the earlier edidtions of the NBA series.

While most would agree that gameplay is numbero uno on the long list of what is important, most would also agree that presentation, which may not make or break a game, can definitely take a game up a level or two.

Personally, I think 2K should steer clear of all big-name guys. I guess it helps to be able to put their names on the box and in press releases, giving the game instant credibility with more casual baseball gamers (baseball watchers who occasionlly game), but marquee talent requires a lot of money and demands.

I think there's a decent chance we'll see a change for 2K9. It would take a helluva lot of booth time though to rebuild the commentary from scratch - so maybe it would be more of a multi-year project?

They also need to gear all of the audio for franchise mode. It is way too exhibition-centric, currently. Designed to make the announcers sound knowledgeable to the dude walking past the game demo-ing in Best Buy. I'm so sick of hearing that Jorge Posada is the most underrated player on the Yankees in his first at bat of every single game. Try the "On the Field" audio setting. Umps and all "field" sounds, as well as crowd are louder. There's also an "In the Stands" setting with louder crowd.

I think I'm going to try this out when Joe and John get old after a few games.

It would be cool to hear the sounds of feet digging into the dirt as a player runs the bases, the catcher pouding his glove, a runner sliding into a base, a pitcher on a fastball or hitter on a big swing and umpire screaming safe on a close play. After playing baseball through college and never actually hearing an announcer on the field, these are the sounds that are familiar to me.

I have had 2k7 back in the 360 for 3 weeks now, and it seems to me like there are 4-5 different bat sounds and MOST of them sound good to me. If they are upgraded it will be "all good" to me.

Now that we know Fukudome is in the game under the name of Fortunato, once we edit his name, are they still going to call him Fortunato, #32, or Fukudome?

                  "On track bump"
we got a little side tracked, the reason for this post was,
to show Ben Brinkman our interest in 2K encouraging us to
send in our last names, so they can include them as announced
names in a future 2K baseball game...
Sending our last names now might be the most opportune time
to add our last names to their 2K9 game...

Please get behind this reasonable request Ben...

                  Ben Brinkman,
Last year a competitor of MLB 2K's series ran with
a simple request I tossed their way...

I suggested to them that instead of choosing Last names
from a phone book for their name database, why not let the
people who post on OS and who are the most passionate
followers of their game, send in their own personal last names...

It was a good idea, what was remarkable was the Company
saw the value in it and offered this in their next baseball game...
                  Everyone was happy...

Mr. Brinkman I want to ask you to take an objective look at this,
please look at this as a fan would...

This would give your game that personal touch...

I would love to see this last name feature in a future
2K baseball game, so here it is for Ben Brinkman to see again ...
please consider using our last names...

Someone on the net, offering to pay your legal bills. Now there's an offer you can't refuse!

As for the bat sounds: the sounds in the trailer are not the ones in the game. Kush has stated that already. Supposedly, some bat sounds were tweaked, but judging from these preview vids we're now seeing, it doesn't appear much was really done.

You're a postive thinker, Scooter But 2K doesn't even respond to concerns or answer emails about freezing issues, patches and online technical problems. Since TT took over three years ago, 2K has basically become a small-budget version of EA Sports in that regard: "We churn 'em out and you buy 'em -- now get out of here, you bother me."

I get up at 5-5:30, everyday I hear you. And good luck. But I do feel you're fighting the corporate machine with 2K. Their mindset since TT took over appears to be emulate EA. And when billions of dollars a year are up for grabs in this industry, who can blame them?

Mr. Brinkman, Sending in our last names, isn't "a money maker" but I won't believe that everything including all 2K's innovative ideas are motivated by money...
don't get me wrong I think making money is a good thing!
especially for the people who are employed by 2K who have family's, mortgages etc...

Ben here's your chance to show that 2K has "heart guts and talent, do this one for the Gipper"...(please add our names to your name database)...
