By far the best aspect of collecting cards will be the ability to put them together as an online card team and then play a game using your collected players.

Wow..that is a good idea. I am afraid though that players can buy card packs. But I am loving that idea.

I read the Sportsgamer article linked to Gamespot and it had some good detail on all the new mechanics.

But here's something new I have not seen mentioned before about batting. We knew it would be timing-based, but they say the batter's eye will work differently.

"As in last year’s game, the batter has a ‘batter’s eye’ circle about the diameter of three baseballs. The batter must direct this circle with the left analog stick during his swing in order to make proper contact with the ball. Aiming too low will result in pop flys and too high will result in ground balls; all pretty much what you would expect."

Last year, the placement of the batter's eye was only for guessing the pitch. Now they say it will influence the aim of the swing. If this is true, that would make the batting interface even more interesting.

Overall the game looks to be shaping up nicely. Looking forward to the demo like so many others.
So we DO use the left stick in conjuction with the right... AWESOME!!!

The controls sound very innovative, I'll definitely give them a try...
The game has my interest, can't wait!

I'm a 360 owner, but swear I heard Kush on here saying that they made it so you can control every team in franchise.

Is that just for 360 or is somebody lying?

You can control 4 playable user franchises at once. There is an option to control the rosters, lineups, etc. for all 30 franchises. I believe this made the final game, but since the game hadnt yet passed certification when I left, I can't gaurantee it.

oK... I hope that is the case. Thanks for the clarification Kush.

No, he said we could adjust CPU lineups, plus a couple of other things (trades, callups?). But it was clear we would only be able to fully control 4 teams.

Is it just me or do the PS3 screens look a little more rough around the edges compared to the 360 ones. I guess I will be getting this game for the 360 instead of my original PS3 plan. I thought the developers were going to have it down now and the PS3 graphics would be better then the 360s by now. Or perhaps that was just a bunch of sony b.s. and doesnt really have more power than the 360.

i'm wondering about that statement made on sportsgamer about using the hitters eye for batting, if its like they say it is it sounds almost like curser batting but for some reason i think they're mixed up there but maybe its me who's mixed up, lol, either way it would indeed be interesting adventure trying to swing with the r stick while aiming with the l stick, not sure if i'm that co-ordinated , wonder how this will work if using classic hitting?

although i remember Brinkman saying they had it running at 60fps on the ps3 before the 360, so that should tell us something.

Kush a question about franchise if you have the time...

Are there contracts w/ options (team/player) like in NBA 2K8?

Well if thats how much they need to degrade the images compared to the 360 ones too get it to run at 60 fps I kind of makes me wonder a bit.
