Let's see the game. 2k doesn't have to release the demo, but geez, can't they release some good quality vids of gameplay on their own?

Re: New interview with Ben Brinkman on The Sports Anomaly.
Negative:
Too many strikes thrown by CPU. Brinkmans answer, play on higher level than pro and there are sliders. Interviewer did mention previously that he was playing on all star. Fielders too large, hits off of the wall resulting in singles. Brinkman thought that the user should have tried for extra bases and wasn't running aggressively enough.Comment

I'm curious what Ben is waiting for regarding the trading cards feature. I could understand him being mum about it a month ago, but we're literally two from release and he still goes with the "I can't really get into it yet..." spiel. What's the deal?Comment

Re: New interview with Ben Brinkman on The Sports Anomaly.
On one hand it's very easy to understand that they have to make a game for a much wider audience that is represented here, but on the other hand it's frustrating that they can't add options to the game to satisfy both sides. I know sliders are an option and will always help, but like last years game demonstrated, there are just certain things that can't be fixed.
I know this is a stretch, but it would be cool if when you first start up the game you were asked a series of questions to determine what kind of player you were. I think within a matter or 4 or 5 basic questions you could determine what kind of player you were playing with. Then based on your answers, the game would select a "personality" and move the sliders to cater to you. Then you could adjust what you wanted to from that point.
Maybe there are 5 personality types that range from True Arcade to Pure Sim
This could also help in online games as maybe when you log in, you are paired up with people who share similar "personalities." This would also prevent a lot of mismatched gamers getting frustrated that the other player is playing a completely different type of game.
Again a stretch, but I think it would be cool.Comment

Re: New interview with Ben Brinkman on The Sports Anomaly.
Our basic mantra was to gear the game almost completely to the hardcore sim fan, but have some things to appeal to the masses (like trading cards and the Strikes Only lobby). IMO, there is nothing Arcade about this game. And when anyone came up with an arcade-ish idea, we would say "leave that to The Bigs".Comment

The problem with adding a million options is that the whole thing becomes a beast to test and tune and then it becomes harder and harder to add new things to the game and keep carrying the options over year after year. You end up biting off more than you can chew and you get a game like 2K6.Comment

I am going to play 10 games right out the box on allstar as you suggest.Comment

But, I don't know. I guess it was BB's "out of the box, I don't want to take pitches comment". I understand it's pro level. There is just something that tells me you guys want to make a certain game. But, the powers that be (time, technology, the bottom line, etc...), have certain influences where you guys have to make compromises.
I'm still a day one buyer. I have to have the game for my collection. And I liked a lot of what I heard about the game play. But, for some reason I think eventually sales are going to determine if this game is a success, not what we here at OS have to say about game.PSN: PhiNuPi

Re: New interview with Ben Brinkman on The Sports Anomaly.
I love that when the guy brought up that he gave up too many HR's on meatballs, and asked if they toned it so back-to-back-to-back HR's aren't hit, and we get more doubles and singles, Brinkman studdered and bumbled his words.
"You just got really unlucky."
- Ben Brinkman
Give me a break. How hard is it to limit the amount of HR's in the game? It's been years and there are still HR's flying out of the park? Please! He then later stated that eventually you'll get good and start to hit a lot of HR's and then you can move up on difficulty. WHAT?! Why is it so hard for them to limit the HR's? Even on Pro, limit the damn HR's already.
Then when the guy brings up that the CPU throws too many strikes, Ben Brinkman states that when he plays a game he doesn't want to sit there taking pitches. Come on.
I am also disappointed on how they continue to make this game a mix of sim and arcade. Brinkman didn't sound to embracive of the term "hardcore sim" when the interviewer asked him about how The Show is a "hardcore sim." Leave the arcade junk to The Bigs.
On the positive side the fielding/throwing sounds awesome, and pitching still sounds fun. But there is just too much stuff that I am hearing and seeing that is making this sound like MLB 2K7 with updated rosters and a new pitching system. I was so freaking pumped for this game a few weeks ago, but the more I hear and see the more I'm getting down on it. I'll now wait for the demo to decide if I get this game or not.
I play Baseball Mogul and OOTP for perfect stats, but for console gaming, I want variation. If you don't come away from that interview with a hunger for the demo, this game probably isn't for you and The Show is definitely right up your alley.Comment

Re: New interview with Ben Brinkman on The Sports Anomaly.
You sound passionate about gaming, but you posts are the most downer written posts I've ever read. Do you want a GAME that no matter what you do, stats are 100% predictable? I want to make the swing that lets that 2 hr a year player hit his 20th of the year, I want to take that lifetime 5.00 era pitcher to his best career ERA ever. Maybe that's just me, but it's a fine line to have a mix of both arcade and sim.

I love Baseball Mogul, so much fun programmed into that little sim! It's nowhere close to OOTP as far as depth, but I actually prefer it due to it's simplicity and layout.Comment
