You know what? I think the demo isn't coming because of the new pitching. The average non baseball loving fan who might download the demo will be like WHOA whats this analog stick pitching?

They're pretty proud of their new controls... I highly doubt that is the reason.

Yes, but can the average non-hardcore baseball fan pick it up and just start playing without getting deep into it and practicing (like in most demos)? No, I don't think so.

Most demos have a tutorial if there are any new controls.

I'm sure that isn't the case, especially since its a feature that they are proud of.

          Example: SVR 2007 demo.

Actually Kush said that the demo should boot staight to the tutorial before the actual game scenario so I don't see how it's that huge of a deal for the average gamer.

The reason the demo will not be out until March 3rd is because they want to ensure the game is on store shelves the very next day. They do this to score a sale from impulse buyers and the average gamer who doesn't keep track of release dates, preview builds etc etc. Gamer dl's demo, says "hey this game is cool, I'm gonna head down to gamestop this week and pick it up." One unit sold. In the end it's all about business, it's all about making money.

Thanks for summing up what I said in a much more succinct manner.

The Fifa08 demo was hardly "pick up and play" and it showed how much the game had improved. Shoot, it took me 2 days to win a game. And that sold me. I hope the demo for 2k8 is just as hard to play. I want to know that this game is really improved. If I wanted the same game, I'd just pick up 2k7 used.

That makes a lot of sense and I'm almost positive that your right but....

if people were to think outside the box, wouldn't they think that if this was truly a great game (like everyone says) wouldn't they release the demo way before the game releases so that everybody realizes that it is a great game, so their sales would jump????

Remember though, 99% of gamers are not going to play a 3 inning demo over and over and analyze it. They are going to play it once, maybe twice, and then decide whether or not they are enjoying it enough to buy it or maybe rent it. Also, it's not like at the end of next week all unsold copies are being removed from store shelves and destroyed.

In a perfect world, yeah, I think they would like to get it out earlier if they are sure they have a great title with no issues. However, just because the demo is taking forever and won't be released until right before or even just after the retail game comes out doesn't mean it is a bad game, either. Development cycles often go less than smoothly, and, more often than not, the devs are tweaking and ironing out wrinkles until the very end. Stuff like that is going to take precedent over getting a demo, which is from an older build anyway, out there ASAP.

I'm sure that is probably why the demo is taking forever. I see this game being a good game. I was just being devils advocate....

If it truly was a horrible game and 2K just wanted to con us into buying the game, then they wouldn't even release a demo.
