I'll wait until May, at the least, when I can determine that the GM mode bug has not made it into the 2k8 edition. Investing in an entire season last year, only to be unable to advance into the playoffs, almost turned me off to baseball games, and I've been playing since Earl Weaver.

My hesitancy has only increased with word that the company still hasn't been able to replicate the GM mode bug from 2k7 in their own studios. I'm just not going through that again....

As for the demo, I agree with other posters that the main showstoppers concerning 2k7 (the GM mode bug, computer AI concerning lineups, etc.) were not discoverable in the demo, so the demo, or lack thereof, is just a non-issue with me.

sorry but "the show" feels too scripted to me. It doesnt feel like i am really in control of anything but the pitching. The way they bat, field.. I just dont like the feel of it. Never have and I have rented it the previous 2 years.

Well that's fine. But tell me what that has to do with whether you're buying 2K8 without playing the demo?

Nah i don't think i will. Nothing on 2k8 but i played 2k baseball for the last 2 years. I just want something newer i just got a ps3 this week so i'm going to get the show. I might buy this months down the road if/when i get tired of the show and want something else to play

Oh man, MVP '04. That was so weird. Funny, I didn't notice it until I read about it somewhere and then I was like "Holy sh*t...".

Hahaha, same here man... which was funny because I play the crap out of that game. Only time I've ever finished an entire 162 game season. LOVED MVP 04 (and 05 as well, obviously).

If I was still a 360 owner I'd have no choice but to go out and buy this game on the first day. But now that I own a ps3 I'm going to need a demo that is equal or better than the show to get me to buy 2k8 anytime soon.

I will, I don't think 2k7 was a bad game at all, actually, it played quite a good game after a few slider tweaks (o.k. maybe more than a few). And I don't seem to mind the Franchise glitches as much because I play mostly in online leagues.

I'm most likely going to buy it without playing the demo. I have no choice basically, as I will be getting the game for 360, and I want a baseball game to play.

Not a chance in hell. I'll just stay on these boards and read impressions for about 2 weeks. 2k6 and 2K7 were huge letdowns for me, and nothing in the conference call has me excited.

No way. I'm not getting suckered in again. Show me a demo that shows actual playable gameplay, a real matchup between pitcher and hitter, and so on. This right analog crap looks like a mess, too.

you must be a sucker with the stick my friend? people i think who dont like the new controls either
A.) dont like being or having control of all your fate instead of scripted errors like other games
B.) Have poor hand-eye-brain coordination
C.) just suck with any movement on the Right analog stick

I don't see the risk, it was fantastic last year, and this year it looks to be even better...

Also, the right analog control looks awesome, can't wait to learn it!

I didn't buy 2K7 last year (partly because MVP 05 is a good game and partly because 2K6 left a horrible taste in my mouth) and I am seeing lots of people saying that last years title was great and I am seeing lots of people saying that last years title was very bad.

All I am seeing is the general opinions of people...Anybody have a thorough answer to why it was bad or why it was good? And why they believe that 2K8 is going to be good or going to be bad???

That would help me out...

I played the PS3 version. Framerate at 1080i was awful, much much better at 720p. Gameplay with the right sliders can be very good. 2k7 could of used more foul balls and in my opinion would of made the game that much better. Graphics were nice, announcing was OK. If the framerate has improved on 2k8 PS3 (I assume it has) Im definatley getting it (along with The Show). I kinda like the gimmicky pitching, however I think its going to turn the game into a homerun fest if the pitching isnt spot on. Hopefully not.
