Re: Demo tomorrow?
One day doesn't make a difference to me. It does matter for owners of a xbox live silver accounts who are on the fence. They have to wait for a week to download the demo after it is released anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A demo tomorrow would be nice for 1 reason for me, pitching practice to get online games going sooner! One day doesn't make a difference to me. Re: Demo tomorrow?
Exactly. That's the main reason I'm disappointed the demo isn't out yet. I really wanted people to get a taste of the pitching.
...and to just see for yourselves how much better the gameplay feels than last year.Comment

Re: Demo tomorrow?
It seems kinda fishy to me that 2 years in a row the demo would come out a DAY before the game. Call me nuts but i think 2K might have something to do with it. Look at it this way, if 2K was anyway even the slightest upset with the release last year being a day before, dont you think they would say something to microsoft? I honestly think it is 2K calling the shots and tell the MS team to wait untill tommorow to release the demo...it does have its ups and downs. It creates speculation and anticipation, but then again it drives some of us mad and crazy. Me personally it frustrates me when i dont know what game to buy yet...The Show or 2K?in all honesty, 2k should not be at fault for a delayed demo. Microsoft has it now, they are the ones sitting on it. You can say all you want that 2k should have finished sooner, but in my opinion, i'm glad they maybe focused their manpower more on the full game rather than a three inning sample of an unfinished project. The game comes out tuesday, if you want to play a demo go right ahead, but I will be starting my Indians Franchise!!! Can't wait!!NFL - Denver Broncos
NCAAF - Boise State Broncos
Champions Indoor Football - Sioux City Bandits 9-2
MLB - Toronto Blue Jays 56-45
NHL - Colorado Avalanche 2022 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS
United States Hockey League - Sioux City Musketeers

Re: Demo tomorrow?
Don't forget the game was released a week early last year. and that was a last minute decision. The demo actually would have been out a week before the game. And as far as the dev team was concerned, it should have been out a lot sooner than that. It may be that some higher-ups at 2K have some say, but I can say for sure that the dev team has no idea what is going on with that and we were always told that it will get released whenever MS / Sony decide to.It seems kinda fishy to me that 2 years in a row the demo would come out a DAY before the game. Call me nuts but i think 2K might have something to do with it. I can't understand why the certification process would take as long as the full game. There's barely anything to test and they've already tested and approved the full version - so its not like there's anything new. Full games take 1-2 weeks for cert. IMO a demo shouldnt take more than a day then, if they have already approved the full game. If they wanna take 2 days to be safe - go ahead, but TWO weeks? makes no sense.Comment

Re: Demo tomorrow?
It's not fair to ask me these things because I'm biased
I hated NBA 2K6 and I LOVED 2K7.
Shortly after MLB 2K7's release I was completely disgusted with the game and never wanted to play it. The only time I did was when my buddy from home wanted to play an online game. I didnt stick with any of my franchises, because I was playing 2K8 at work, and after a month - though a mess - it was already much better. Now I'm jonesin to play 2K8. And I find it hard to believe I will become disgusted with it, the way I did with 2K7.Comment

Would you say the gameplay is leaps and bounds better than 2k7?Comment

Re: Demo tomorrow?
yeah but the game was also released a week early!! so technically 2k released the demo a week before the original scheduled launch, we just got lucky that the game was released earlyIt seems kinda fishy to me that 2 years in a row the demo would come out a DAY before the game. Re: Demo tomorrow?
Well I was the gameplay producer, so you are really asking me whether or not I think my team did a good job. How bout you guys tell me?
Many people I worked with made comments at the end of the project about the gameplay being WAY better than 2K7. And so far, gameplay seems to be getting the best press. Which is good. That was really our goal, our #1 priority, was to make sure the gameplay was vastly improved. We had some bumps in the road as a studio, and things had to be scaled back in places, which was, unfortunately for the complete package, largely presentation. But, fortunately for me - and I believe the game as well - gameplay remained #1 (thanks to Brinkman who touts gameplay above all else) and not many cuts were made there. I also pushed really hard to cut as little as possible from gameplay. I think the end result is pretty good.Comment

Re: Demo tomorrow?
so could you possibly be hinting at that next year, being year 3 of the "3 year plan", if the gameplay is as good as your saying it is, that presentation will be the major emphasis next year? If this is the case then i can live with that! Gameplay to me is the most important part of the game, but if 2k admits that presentation is lacking this year, hopefully 2k9 will be an overall great game.Well I was the gameplay producer, so you are really asking me whether or not I think my team did a good job. Re: Demo tomorrow?
Well I know absolutely nothing for sure about next year in terms of what tasks they are planning for the game - what things they are planning to work on.so could you possibly be hinting at that next year, being year 3 of the "3 year plan", if the gameplay is as good as your saying it is, that presentation will be the major emphasis next year? If this is the case then i can live with that! Gameplay to me is the most important part of the game, but if 2k admits that presentation is lacking this year, hopefully 2k9 will be an overall great game.
But the things that I do know about 2K9 production lead me to believe Presentation and Franchise will get a lot of love. I hope thats the case. And I hope they don't try to do too much with gameplay and simply try to put on a few "finishing touches" - things that didnt make the cut or were working, broke, and then ran out of time to fix (like much improved wall interaction - i hate when the fielders "skate" along the wall, that really kills the illusion).
Overall I think gameplay is almost there, presentation has the biggest ways to go, and franchise could use a lot of love too. If I had stayed there I would have asked to work on Franchise.Comment
