And I hope they don't try to do too much with gameplay and simply try to put on a few "finishing touches" - things that didnt make the cut or were working, broke, and then ran out of time to fix (like much improved wall interaction - i hate when the fielders "skate" along the wall, that really kills the illusion).

Overall I think gameplay is almost there, presentation has the biggest ways to go, and franchise could use a lot of love too. If I had stayed there I would have asked to work on Franchise.
well kush that sure is good to hear! Your already starting to get me pumped for 2k9!! haha when does development on that start?

It's hard to pick a favorite, it really is. I like all of the new gameplay improvements. Pitching is a lot of fun, hitting feels way more realistic, throwing is great because you are in control of the result, baserunning is less cumbersome. love the minor leagues and the card system turned out to be really cool too. Overall the pitcing and the hitting might be my favorites. And, oh yeah, we added a ridiculous number of fielding animations, which when combined with the improved framerate, make the fielding a lot smoother and you feel much more in control.

The best "feature" is that it plays a very realistic game of baseball. You're not gonna see pitchers making those crazy running off balance cannon throws to first to get guys out on bunts... everything's just so much more realistic.

I hated the hit stick last year. How much different is it is this year? I'm hoping I don't end up going back to the button based hitting like I did last year cause the hit stick just never felt right to me.

I sent you a private message too. did you get it?

We completely re-wrote the hitting engine, so just check it out on Tuesday or if the demo comes out earlier. Give it a chance though, it is much improved IMO.

I replied to the email address you left in the PM.

Kushgamer did you see the PS3 build at all. they said(well 2k's dev said) that they acheived 60 fps on ps3 first.

did you ever play the ps3 build since you were agameplay producer that would have to test out both versions to see that both controllers worked well with the new controls?

Kush I only have one question and I hope the answer doesn't even matter but if the swing stick does not seem enjoyable will the traditional hitting still have power swings when you point the left stick up or will power swings be left out of the game completely? I hope they are.

                    Kush,
What about wind effects? I've asked this a few times and not got an answer. I mean like wind blowing in/out at Wrigley actually effects the game.

It is true that 60 fps was achieved first on the PS3.

I played the 360 version a lot more because it was the only console I had at my desk and I far prefer the 360 controller. But of course, I tested stuff out on PS3 and at first, the pitching and throwing seems a little more difficult, because the 360 controller actually has more tension in the analog sticks around the cardinal directions and the PS3 controller does not. But after playing for a bit, it was really no more difficult. I do think the lack of rumble hurts a bit though.

Classic hitting no longer has the power swing. Last year's swing stick is also still an option though. The new swing stick is dubbed "Swing Stick 2.0". Last year's stick was ported to the new hitting engine and given a "fudged" power swing that I wish was not there at all - but even as the gameplay producer I don't get to call all the shots

thank you for answering my question.

I'm hoping going with the ps3 version is ok as I do not want to get the 360 version personally. 2K7 WAs far better on 360 last year but there is No excuse for the ps3 version to be anything less than "as good as" the 360 version visually this year.

i played the ps3 version a lot last year and saw that the 360 was the more superior version. this uyear that better not be the case or I am never going to buy a 2k product again. it would completley anger me that the ps3 version get shafted a second year in a row.

I dont think that was really touched this year. It may have been slightly affected by other ball physics work we did, but to my knowledge wind had a significant effect in 2K7, so it still does in 2K8.

last year though, at least in franchise games, you rarely had a windy game. Did that get touched on?
