Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
Im a little confused. How can 2k block a review from IGN. IGN does not work for 2k and has no vested interest in 2k. If IGN wants to release a review, how can 2k stop them? If anything, they should be more inclined to release the bad review to inform the public about a bad game, dont you think? Anyone know how 2k can do that?Comment

Yeah, BUT I have both a PS3 and an XBOX360...I'm buying "The Show" day one. I'm hoping 2K8 is awesome but it's not looking good so far.
First - not releasing a demo...BAD SIGN
Second - not allowing IGN to review before the release date....VERY BAD SIGN (Most movie studios won't have screenings if they know their movie sucks)
I will be completely SHOCKED if 2K8 is any good!!
I hope i'm wrong...Comment

Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
Big freakin deal
I don't see the hoopla about this. The review will still be out tomorrow. I don't think many people are waiting with baited breaths for this IGN review.
Where was the outrage when Sony's sports department stopped sending material to EGM because of poor reviews. That matters to me a hell of a lot more than a review being delayed one day. I find that particularly offensive. Dan Hsu wrote this in his 1up blog:
For the time being, you'll get little, late, or no coverage of the following products: anything Mortal Kombat (they didn't like our reviews), anything from Sony's sports department (ditto), and now, anything from Ubisoft (it seems our coverage of Assassin's Creed was the last straw). So in case you're wondering why you're seeing so little of these games in our magazines and on our websites, now you know.?

Who can pull future exclusive coverage, and advertising. 2k doesnt cover IGN.com or advertise for them. IGN's job is to provide the public with information. IGN doesnt even have exclusive coverageCubs

The only thing 2k can do (as stated above) is to stop sending IGN their games to review, which in turn will turn the public off for doing so.Cubs

Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
Time to relax before this thread gets closed. Seems kinda silly for everyone to bitch at each other. Who cares why they can't post the review tonight? They'll post it tomorrow, and will life be that much worse if we have to wait a few hours? We'll find out soon enough if the game sucks or if it's amazing. It just doesn't seem worth it to get all pissy with each other over something none of us have any information about, just opinions. Worse comes to worse, and you really need to see IGN's review, go buy the game, and leave it wrapped until the review is out. If the review is good, unwrap it and play it. If it's not, leave it wrapped and return it the next time you go out.Comment

Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
What is the deal with you being so snarky about this? What is so hard for you to comprehend? EGM was able to put their review out earlier because all print media has a much longer lead time. Just because a bunch of subscribers have the issue in hand does not mean that the "on sale" date for the issue isn't tomorrow or later. That is what 2K would have been going off of. This Hilary guy even said that it was more or less a last minute decision by 2K to have them hold off on the review by a day.
If anyone is going nutty in here, it is yourself. Why the hell would Hilary lie about it? Because he is bitter and has an axe to grind? I highly doubt it. I have never seen the slightest clue you would be correct. It isn't his decision, and it really isn't IGN's. Well, ultimately, I guess it is IGN's, but they need to play ball if they want to continue to get early access and exclusives and what not.
His comment about the Show being better is also just his opinion. One guy who no doubt has played both games. Also, before just dismissing him as some peon who has no clue about the sport, keep in mind that he is a noted baseball video game fan, and has been reviewing baseball games for IGN for at least the last 7-8 years. I have no reason to defend the guy other than the fact that you are seriously reaching for BS theories and reasoning.
Just play the damn game and decide if you like it. It really is quite simple, yet so many of you make it such a chore, and you have to constantly hem and haw on these forums about the most inane, inconsequential things.Comment

Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
I don't see what you don't understand. 2K ASKED IGN TO HOLD BACK THEIR REVIEW. It's simple. It's not false just because you don't want to believe it's true.
As others have said, there has only been ONE REVIEW of the game. And that review was published before said embargo.
And those of you who have suggested Hilary may be lying need to think about the potential ramifications if that were true. Because once the IGN higher-ups found out that there was no such embargo and that Hilary was lying because he didn't have his review finished on time, Hilary would be shown the door. Fired. Terminated. Canned.

Re: 2K blocks reviews until Game is officially released. (Breaking news)
IGN does provide information to the public. The fact that that site is viewed by so many of this "public" you speak of for reviews, impressions, etc. is the sole reason 2K or any other game publisher would advertise on their site. They want gamers who frequent the site to know about their games. Is this really news to you?Comment
