Re: Simming games?
I been through several franchises with multiple seasons and I prefer to Sim every other game. You still feel like you have some control that way. I've also done seasons that I want to get thru quicker by simming 2 out of every 3 games of a series. It is still fun."The man who is the spearhead of the Dodger offense throughout the year, who saved them in the League Championship, will not see any action tonight, for sure."

Re: Simming games?
I plan on playing every game, stopping the franchise after 30 games, and starting a new one. This process will repeat itself at least 5 times up until August.Comment

Re: Simming games?
I'm using the Phillies and I'll play a game, sim a game like another poster said. I'll more than likely sim series' against the likes of the Marlins, Pirates, Giants, Nationals, and any other team that I choose. I feel you have to sim if your goal is to play through more than one season. If your a husband and a father like me then not simming is NOT an option.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Simming games?
I play one game a series, then sim the other 2. I pick which game of the series based on the Starter. I try not to use the same starter too often.Comment

I don't sim games, unless I'm either locked in my playoff position or am eliminated from contention. I only play 40 game seasons though.Comment

Re: Simming games?
On MVP when I was a huge fan of the progression and the draft and wanted to plow through seasons quicker, but still have a say in what was going on, I had a diligent system where I'd play the first game of the season with my ace, then the next game would come the NEXT time the 2nd starter comes up (i.e - games 5/6). This would proceed with the 3rds, 4th and 5th starters. You end up playing 30ish games with a small sample of each starting pitcher, and you can wrap up seasons quickly.
Just another suggestion...Proud to be a Toronto Sports Fan, no matter how many losses and disappointments.

Yes, this is what I do as well.

Re: Simming games?
Question for the gamers who play a shorter season.
What is you take on individual player stats?
Wouldn't that only be about 8-10 starts for the staff ace?
Hitters and base stealers would only get about a quarter of the numbers.
I can see the point with the pennant race. No matter how many games you play when the race starts to come about it gets fun.
I think everyone should play their own way. Just curious.Comment

My take is that I really don't care about video game stats. I also don't like simming games because then I feel like it's another CPU controlled team and not mine. I just like having a shorter season where it feels more like every game matters and I don't get bored with a 10+ game lead deficit with 70 games still to go. The shorter seasons keep the excitement going for me because I'm always either beginning a new season or coming down the stretch. Because of that, I'm far more likely to make it through 6 or 7 40 game seasons in a year than 1 full season.
Anyway, those are the reasons I play short seasons in franchise.Comment

Re: Simming games?
I was just saying that I have to sim games in order to get through multiple seasons because trying to play every game is not an option if I plan on spending any quality time w/ my family.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment
