Re: Sorry, but I really like this game

    It always happens this way.

HUGE hype for a game... followed by some "gamekiller" that is found.

I can never trust these boards right after a game is released.. as for me I will be renting 2K8 soon to make up my own mind. I hope that it is great... but if it isn't, I would have to agree DannyMac910.... I prefer The Show to 2K7 but hopefully that will change a la the X-Play review

No wonder a demo and reviews didn't come out.

How anyone can say "The framerate doesn't bother me" is beyond me...This is probably the worst baseball game I've ever seen since the TRiple Play series...MLB2k7 is far better than this nonsense
I guess one would have to have a framerate issue to have it bother me. Maybe this is where playing on low rent equipment helps. I'm playing on a Sony 32 inch tv that is probably 10 years old. It works fine and I've seen stutter in maybe two plays since I've fired the game up a few hours ago. So I'm one of the luck few.
I was an avid Show person, though I played the PSP version. Honestly, I have more allegiance toward The Show because it's a fantastic game. I'm loving 2k8. It feels fresh and it's actually more fun to play than The Show. I think The Show plays a more pure game of baseball, but I'm not sorry I bought this, especially hearing after hearing all the criticism about 2k8. I'm truly disappointed so many people are having "issues" with the game because it plays a fantastic game of baseball. I really find the swing stick (though a tad easy), THE PITCHING, and the fielding to be more engaging to play. I feel more like a participant rather than an observer. I'm having a ton of fun.

I'm having fun with the game as well. Really starting to get the hang of pitching, still drawing people off bases when the play is going to be close and I get a little to anxious with my throws.

There is a framerate issue - I see it mostly when throwing across the field, and between batters / innings. I'm running in 1080i that might be contributing to it. I'm starting not to notice it, or not care because the game play is good. The game may be unpolished but I'm enjoying it and that's where it counts.

The graphics are what they are - they're not Gears of War graphics, but they're not Xbox or PS2 graphics. The people that are saying the graphics are that bad have you really went back and looked at PS2 or XBox graphics recently?

I'm happy with my purchase, but more importantly I'm having fun and that's what it's about.

Edit: I'm on 360, I've heard the PS3 version runs less smoothly.

I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

I think it is a good game. Could it be better yes but that doesn't mean it isn't a good game. When compared to 2k7 it is a much better game. The new controls are a lot of fun when you get used to them. I have had a lot of games with scores like 8-7 10-6 and they have been pretty competitive. My only problem is I can't get out of the second with out giving up a couple of runs.

Why even make comments like this. Your words add absolutely nothing to the conversation. If The Show is so great, GO PLAY IT! Stop coming into the 2k8 thread and trolling. If you think PS2 had better graphics then you must have really hated The Show last year. Please, add something positive to a positive thread, or just don't post.

I don't mind criticism, but this is ridiculous. The only problem I have with this game is frame rate, and I hope it can be fixed, or I will have to sell this game.
Given the FACT that I run a very successful 2k baseball league I think my complaints and concerns are quite valid.

I'm a gamer bro..I don't pump one game or one system..I happen to own all 3 consoles and I play a multitude of games on all of them...I know a piece of garbage when I see it and for 2k to put this type of game out...Well its simply a travesty.

The Show has its own problems...terrible online play...But this game (2k8)...Is a problem from start to finish...3-4 years into next gen..This type of effort is inexcusable.

Its not even like its a glitch that was found...I mean I could understand a glitch and even a game killing glitch but you can't tell me the people at 2k didn't know this game played so choppy on and offline...Gamers literally get shat on...In no other sector of consumerism would a half done incomplete product be acceptable...Only in the gaming world can you buy something that is broken from the jump and not get your money back or a legitament warning before you buy it.

Just lost my first game but this is awesome! I love it! Yes there is some frame rate issues but there is so much more good to this game than bad. Each to there own i guess.

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game

i will admit after playing a full game and another two innings this evening i hated this game. The frame rate issues were a pain and it was destroying my interest in MLB 2k8. I took a break for an hour and 30 mintues. I read some of the tips to help reduce the framerate problem and now i feel a lot better playing this game. I took off the player and inning highlight replays. I put replays on sometimes and only used cutscenes. The game had a little framerate problem but i really didnt pay attention to it. I was more focus on playing this game. I suggest playing home run derby to practice on hitting. Also, i noticed in the stadium selection for the Home Run Derby. Legends field, Durham Bull park and another ballpark is on Xbox marketplace. The only thing i have to do is figure how to pitch. That will take a month but its worth it. Enjoy everyone

im having a great time playing
i liked 2k7 and to me this is 2k7 with new rosters and almost all the fixes i wanted
OF speed/throwing speed, now if i hit a ball to the wall, beltran is in standing at 2nd and delgado does slide but at least hes not out
ball physics/swing stick, if i try to pull a ball outside the zone it reacts as it should, if i get jammed i pop it up, etc, i havent seen any opposite field HR jacks on inside pitches
no crazy amount of HR and HR robbing (HUGE improvement)
i can actually get a sense of the pitch breaks this year and dont strike out 20 times a game
and the pitching is a lot of fun, very hard (for now), but fun. 2k7 i pitched too many CG SHO
i like the analog throwing, i was worried it would be like ncaa 2006 where it was too unforgiving and routine plays become errors but i even without practice i am able to make most easy plays i should make
i love the custom music feature, for me to be able to DL all my teams batter intros/celebration songs/chants and put them onto the game does more for the "atmosphere" than anything they could have done

yes there is a framerate problem but it does not seem any worse than last year which didnt really bother me.

I never said you weren't entitled to your opinion, or that your complaints aren't valid. I'm saying that this is a positive thread, and comments like yours don't really belong here. I'm not trying to start an argument here, but seriously, this game's graphics are much better than any PS2 game. Why can't you just let this thread hold the thoughts of those who are enjoying the game, and leave the negative posts in a different thread.
