Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
No reason to apologize for liking this game. I'm having a great time with it. FINALLY there is some innovation in pitching. I haven't enjoyed a pitching mechanic this much since I was first introduced to the pitching meter in the MVP series. The "framerate issue" for me is ONLY in cut scenes. It's bad then, but I couldn't care less. The game is smooth during gameplay, and that's all that matters to me.
The people saying the graphics look like Xbox or PS2 are just letting hatred cloud their judgment. Those comments are just flat-out stupid and counter-productive.Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
I'm having fun with the game as well. Really starting to get the hang of pitching, still drawing people off bases when the play is going to be close and I get a little to anxious with my throws.
There is a framerate issue - I see it mostly when throwing across the field, and between batters / innings. I'm running in 1080i that might be contributing to it. I'm starting not to notice it, or not care because the game play is good. The game may be unpolished but I'm enjoying it and that's where it counts.
The graphics are what they are - they're not Gears of War graphics, but they're not Xbox or PS2 graphics. The people that are saying the graphics are that bad have you really went back and looked at PS2 or XBox graphics recently?
I'm happy with my purchase, but more importantly I'm having fun and that's what it's about.
Edit: I'm on 360, I've heard the PS3 version runs less smoothly.Comment

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
I agree...I really enjoy the aerial camera and so far the game has been great. One thing I haven't figured out is how to check your swing...it says just pull back on the RS, but has anyone gotten it to work?"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
I love it so farThe pick off throw is much better and the game is playinga great game of baseball. I was down 4-0 to the Rockies i the Giants in the first inning and i widdled my way back to a 4-4 tie. In the top of the tenth they had two back to back lead off singles then i got the double play ball to 3rd so man on 3rd 2 outs. The games much better then last years imo.

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
Their are 2 items I dislike. I am a cursor hitter and though in 2k5/2k6 I got the hang of the swing stick, this version is very difficult to hit with in terms of making contact on all star.
For one every pitch was a strike and you can not tell one from the other to well. Second I can't find a hitting cam I am comfortable with.
The default all star settings just aren't very good in my opinion.
The thing is I have no idea where to start in terms of setting up sliders.Comment

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
This game is Terrible...Graphics worse than Ps2 amd Xbox and stuttering gameplay both on and offline.
No wonder a demo and reviews didn't come out.
How anyone can say "The framerate doesn't bother me" is beyond me...This is probably the worst baseball game I've ever seen since the TRiple Play series...MLB2k7 is far better than this nonsense
(That was sarcasm, btw. I grew tired of hearing that crap last year and swore off the 2K series after two terrible showings in a row. MVP producer or not, the game was a turd last year and sounds like this year has issues, too :\ )Last edited by dmfreck; 03-05-2008, 01:04 AM.Comment

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
I really really like this game. from the unlockable cards, the great pitching mechanics, new batting stick (feels more fluid), throwing with the right stick, the graphics look awesome and through 5 games, I'm 3-2. so it's variety. from the first game (11-2, rox over cards) to the last game (6-3, cards over nationals) I'm having a blast. can't wait for my league to start up. oh btw just got down the curveball, still working on the slider.....Comment

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
Yeah I too am having a blast with this game. Saw a couple of sweet things offline, and played a game with a friend online (which wasn't the best but will wait for the lag to die down like every game does when it first comes out).
Currently 1-2 with the Reds so far. Lost first game 0-4, did have like 7 hits just couldn't score any. Second game as back and forth with about 3 lead changes before I finally lost 5-4. Last game won 7-6 all against the Diamondbacks.
With pitching the only problem I have is throwing curves. It seems as long as I have a pitcher without a curve I am in good shape. Second game I played the only reasons why they scored was cause I was trying to learn that pitch. Everything else I can throw very effective, unless I throw it over the plate, but still end up with a couple of strikeouts.
Two games have seen two outfielders run into each other. First it was Dunn and Hooper which Dunn landed on his back while Hooper stumbled back. Other one was Jr. charging in and making a shoe string catch before bowling over Phillips. Apparently need to learn the call off button lol.
Saw Hat try to make a sliding catch between his legs, but ended up hitting off his glove and then knee. Saw some beautiful double plays with one time Gonzales getting taken out by the baserunner.
Really havent seen anything bad about the game other than infielders not with the strong arm against their body which I know some of the Reds can do. Plus without speed burst in the outfield is going to take an adjustment. More of a thinking game now to where you have to always seem to adjust your fielders and actually play baseball.
Best thing was shifting my infield to the left. Can't remember the batter, but he was 2-2 in the game and everything he hit was on the outside, but couldn't really keep up with the inside. So i jammed him and the second pitch he rocket a shot by the short stop and my guy hardly had to move to get the easy out.
Yeah the computer usually throws strikes and without a lot of balls thrown but still is a very good game I think.Comment

Re: Sorry, but I really like this game
loving the game right now and all I've done is play exhibitions.
I love the new pitching controls, I get realistic pitch counts and realistic at-bats. I read the tutorial before playing a game and after just five games I can get at least a 90 gesture rating on the majority of my pitches. The new hitting controls, still getting used to but I'm getting better at it.
I think there's a lot of little things improved that may go unnoticed if you focus so much on the framerate instead of just playing the game.
I guess my only complaint so far would be that in the five games I've played, four of them went to extra innings and that's just too many. I'm sure it was just a coincidence.Lux y VeritasComment
