I set things to All-Star and then lowered the CPU throw strikes to 25 across the board and didn't touch the AI batting options. I walked 4 batters in 5 innings, including a 4 pitch walk to the pitcher and I drew two walks myself. Pitch counts in the 5th inning were 64 for Glavine(me) and 56 for El Duque.

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
This issue making not want to play this game. I wanted to see if the cpu would throw any balls so I didnt even swing for 5 innings.
Zito had thrown how many pitches. Guess? 45 pitches and had 15 strike outs. I even adjusted the cpu throw strikes in the sliders and he still only threw 4 balls for the rest of the game. This is making me question why I got this game.Moderator

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
i turned down all the throw strikes for the A! all to zero. it seem to help a little bit. i walked a couple of times. i continue testing. as for the cpu walking. i maxed out all the take balls. i walked about 4. so the results are a bit better, but still not where they need to be for a game of baseball.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
Agreed. I can deal with alot of things, but hitting is horrible in this game because you know it's a strike every single time.
Despite knowing every pitch is a strike, I still am terrible at hitting the ball. Everying is a weak grounder or pop fly. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The CPU pitcher throws a complete game every time I play now since they only throw strikes (max 3 pitch at bats). I used to always take pitches, now I pretty much swing at every pitch because otherwise its a called strike.
This really has to be addressed with a patch or I don't know if I'll be playing this game for very long. Who wants to play a game where the other starter throws a complete game every game and never once walks anyone, and every batter just swings away on every pitch.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
I can assure that with pitcher throw strikes all the way at zero, I can get some very, very good games going, with real reward of taking a pitch...and that douchebag feeling when you pop up the first pitch of the at bat. What frustrates the fan should frustrate the gamer right?
Now, why this game is a little ridiculous out of the box is beyond me. I guess they were targeting the audience that just wants to play Home Run Derby baseball all day...which I'm sure has an audience.
But for the rest of us, thank goodness there is a deep set of sliders.Proud to be a Toronto Sports Fan, no matter how many losses and disappointments.

Past that, until someone cranks the sliders all the way up or down or whatever it takes to check for certain, it's all speculation.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
I played for over three hours last night and I saw the computer throwing many balls(with adjusted sliders) and believe me I walked many last night. Are people even playing the game? There are sliders to get it to your liking. I have seen the cpu take third strike, swinging third strikes, and I have been walked on four straight pitches and have had great battles with the cpu when i cranked the foul ball slider all the way up.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
Just like last year, you'll get better results turning off the CPU Inside Edge. I believe the reason some people are experiencing different things is because IE stats determine different results. Also, you must give a reason for the CPU to throw balls. Not swinging at anything wouldn't logically give a reason for a ball to ever be thrown. Whether swinging or not changes the outcome, I am not sure, but IE has a huge influence on what the CPU does in different situations.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
I'm a little more optimistic now.
I just played a game as the Red Sox against the Yankees. Hughes had 34 pitches through two innings. 20 strikes and 14 balls. Walked 2 and had a wild pitch. This is with IE on.
I have all the strike throw sliders at ZERO.Comment

Re: computer doesn't take or throw balls
This is the exact reason why last year I made a freaking spreadsheet of the sliders I was using. I'm at work now, but when I get home I can attach it to a thread in the slider forum and you guys can enjoy those. My whole goal was to see realistic pitch counts, and more balls thrown by the CPU pitcher because prior to the slider adjustments I made I was seeing the CPU pitcher go 8-9 innings against me all the time unless I started rocking him. With my sliders the CPU will have to throw more pitches to get you out, and will thus use more stamina and only be people to CG you if he's on top of his game (or your sucking).
Will post those sliders around 6:00-6:30 pm (I don't get off until 5:00).Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment
